Chapter 21
Mitch and Scott were sharing a salad as they listened to Alex tell Jake a story about something that had happened with Travis. Scott zoned out on accident, when he saw Mitch giggle at something. But when he turned to Alex again, Alex was laughing while he spoke. Alex looked directly at Travis. "I don't even know if you remember that, because I don't think you cared." "Of course I remember. I scared myself half to death." Alex scoffed at him, but laughed. "Yeah right." He looked to Mitch, then. "He lost me." Mitch giggled. "Lost you? Like.. In a grocery store?" "No. That's the worst part. We were at home."
Travis crossed his arms over his chest. "It's not my fault you lied to me about knowing where the bathroom was." Alex kept his eyes on Mitch to explain. "His house is huge, Minnie. It had like... Four bathrooms. And I got lost." Travis looked to Mitch too, as if Mitch were the judge. "Okay, all I know is that he said he'd be back in like three minutes, and then I heard him crying down the hall." Mitch frowned. "Aw, Allie. That's both cute and sad." Alex giggled, leaning toward Travis. "They're on my side, ha ha." Travis pouted at him. "That's because you're cuter than I am." Scott hummed, taking some more lettuce on his fork. "I don't know, Trav..." Travis laughed, and then poked Alex's arm. "Ha. I have one on my side too." Alex looked over at Jake. "You're the tie breaker." Jake glanced up from his food, now that everyone was staring at him. "What's happening?" "You have to decide if... Wait, I actually don't know what the argument was about." Travis put his arm over the back of Alex's seat to lean toward Jake a little. "Just tell him that he's cuter than I am, and we can all move on with our day."
