Chapter 22
Scott rushed to set Mitch on the ground as gently as possible, before grabbing Mitch's hand. "Come on." He ran over, before pointing toward Alex for Mitch to go, and then rushed over to Jake to stand between the two Alphas. Travis was already scolding the tall Alpha, so Scott just watched him and held his hand out so Jake would stay behind him. Travis shoved the Alpha. "What the fuck would motivate you to punch someone that hasn't done anything wrong?!" "He threatened me!" Jake tried to step forward. "No I didn't! He insulted my Omega!" Travis' eyes darkened a little, and he clenched his fists as he stared at the Alpha. "What did you say about him?" The Alpha just scoffed. "I just said he had a nice body. And then that fucker over there freaked out and--" Jake defended himself. "You said he looked like a good fuck, and--" Scott growled at both of them, his own Alpha beginning to show. "Both of you, shut the fuck up. Travis, stand down. Get the Omegas, and head toward the hotel. Jake, calm down. It's not worth getting in a fight." Travis took a deep breath, and held up his hands in surrender, before turning to walk over to Alex and Mitch. Scott slowly approached the other Alpha, his eyes slightly darker than normal. "Don't say such horrible things about Omegas. They're not just objects here for your enjoyment." "I didn't say anything about him being an object. I just said he's fucking hot, which he is." "Even if it still wasn't a negligent thing to say, why'd you have to punch someone in the face over it?" "I thought he was trying to fight me for him. Clearly, I won." "How did you win? He's the one walking away with Alex. You got nothing. But I'll gladly fight you for him if that's what you're itching for." A Beta standing behind the other Alpha tapped his shoulder in a hurry. "Sir, I wouldn't. He's the Strongest." "How the Hell do you know?" "I watch the news..? I don't know. I just know that's him." Scott took that as his answer, and turned to leave, grabbing Jake's forearm to drag him along. Scott glanced over at him once as they walked. "Are you alright? I'm sorry you got hit..." "I'm fine. Just... Are you mad at me?" Scott grinned at him, and shook his head. "Jake, come on. You know if anyone dared to say something like that around me, I'd have done the exact same thing. Except.. I probably would've beat him up a little." Jake let out a sigh, looking down to his feet. "I feel kind of like an idiot. I don't usually let my emotions get the best of me like that." "Don't say that. You had every right to defend Alex. And it's not like you swung first, or at all, even. In fact, I'd probably be more upset with you if you hadn't said anything." Jake nodded slowly. "I understand. Thank you. And uh... Thank you for coming to help me." "You're welcome." Travis had gotten the Omegas to the wooden walkway, but Mitch refused to go any further until he knew Scott was okay. When Scott and Jake finally did catch up to them, Travis had to physically hold the two Omegas back. He didn't want to send Alex loose on Jake until he knew Jake was okay. Alex could already see Jake's face beginning to swell, and he gasped at him. "Oh gosh... J, are you okay?" Jake smiled, leaving Scott's side to walk over to him. "I'm fine, honey." Mitch pulled his arm away from Travis to rush over to Scott, eyes wide. "Did you get in a fight? Did you beat him up?" "No, baby. I just kind of... Said a few things, and then walked away. He knew I was the Strongest, and didn't want to fight with me." "Good. He should know better." Scott shook his head a little, smiling down at him. "You were worried." "Of course I was worried! That guy was huge!" "I mean... Sort of. He was like an inch taller than me." "Okay, well. To a skyscraper, maybe not. But to the rest of us, he was huge." Scott chuckled, leaning down to kiss Mitch's forehead. "I guess you're lucky that you have a skyscraper looking out for you, then." "Extremely lucky." Scott looked over to Travis, who was gently poking the red spots that were forming around Jake's eye. Travis glanced at him. "Well... I'm sure the Betas are going to freak, but. Oh well." Mitch poked Scott's arm. "Will you carry me again?" Scott's face fell into concern in record time, as he set a hand on Mitch's back and leaned down a little. "Are you okay? Does your tummy hurt, baby? Or your feet hurt, or..?" Mitch shook his head a few times. "I just enjoy being carried." Scott frowned a little. "You made me nervous." He grabbed Mitch's hand and led him over to one of the benches alongside the walkway, and then helped Mitch stand on top of it, before spinning Mitch around so he was facing the ocean instead of Scott. Scott then bent his knees a little, before setting his hands on Mitch's hips and then lifting him up and backwards to set on Scott's shoulders. Mitch made himself comfortable, while Scott grabbed his thighs. "Thank you. Did Alex grab our bag of stuff? With the shirts and sunglasses and stuff?" Scott turned around and looked, before trying to nod. "Yeah, he's got it." "Good. That's good." Scott's grip on Mitch's thighs tightened a little. "Are you comfy up there?" "Yes, Sir. Thank you. Thank you for carrying me." He leaned forward all of a sudden, and gently ran his finger over the Band-Aid on Scott's forehead, making sure it was still stuck. Scott walked over to the others, tapping Travis' shoulder. "You ready to go?"
