Chapter 143
The gym wasn't as bad as Scott thought it was going to be. Avi's dad made them lift a little, run a little and then do a couple of random exercises. Avi was definitely sweaty when they finished, and Scott could hardly breathe. But they did it. Avi's father gave them both pats on the back. "Don't look so tired, gentlemen. This is what real Alpha training is like." Scott nodded and put his hands on his head to try and catch a breath. Avi's dad started to lead them towards the locker rooms, where the exits were connected. He set a hand on Scott's shoulder, which was a new experience for Scott. It's not everyday he comes across someone taller than he is. The father smiled at him. "You want to take a shower, Muscles? You could do it now." Scott shook his head. "No, no. I'll be alright. I will just shower at home." Avi's father nodded and patted his arm once more, before turning to his son. "How about you, Avriel?" "Home. Thanks though." *******
Mitch was helping Avi's mom make cookie dough, while Kirstin and Kevin cleaned the house. Esther had locked herself in Avi's room, feeling a little too nostalgic about her brother. Mitch was nervous at first, but it turns out Avi's mother is delightful to be around, when she isn't with her husband. Mitch giggled when she put a finger in the dough. She gasped and smiled at him. "It is absolutely delicious! Somehow I knew you'd be a great cook. Mother's intuition, I guess." Mitch laughed and gladly ate a little when she fed it to him. Mitch walked over to the sink to wash his hands, when Avi's mother set a hand on her hip. "So you do eat then. I was starting to wonder." Mitch grabbed a towel and started drying his hands. "I do. I eat quite often, actually. I guess I'm just.. Small. Y'know?" She chuckled a little. "That must be nice, Hun." Mitch gasped. "Mrs. K you are perfect just the way you are. Don't say things like that." She smiled sadly at him as she too washed her hands. "You're a sweetheart, Mitchell." He blushed a little and handed her the towel. "Thank you." She set the towel down on the counter and turned to face Mitch again. "Can you grab a cup for me? I'm feeling a little parched." Mitch nodded quickly. "Of course, ma'am. I usually have my Alpha grab things off the high shelf, but I'll try." He giggled a little and stood on his tip toes to reach one of the cabinets. Mitch's shirt must've come up a little in the back, because all of a sudden Avi's mother put a hand on his arm. "Oh, no. No, honey. Don't tell me..." Mitch froze, slowly sinking back down to stand on flat feet as he turned to look at her. "What?" Tears slowly filled her eyes as she lifted Mitch's shirt a little on one side. Mitch grabbed her hand. "What are you doing?" She grabbed one of his hands as she pulled the shirt up more, only to reveal what appeared to be the outline of a bruise taking over half of his side. Mitch looked down and then looked away. Mrs. Kaplan stared at his pale stomach and the dark spot that seemed almost faded, but very prominent against his light skin. "What happened here?" Mitch stared at the wall just past her head, while she kept her gaze intent on him. Mitch began to whisper. "It wasn't Scott. I promise. It happened a long time ago.. And I guess it just never went away... It's only been a few years." A tear fell down Avi's mothers face as she tried to piece everything together. "No... Not my baby boy.." Mitch finally met her eyes. "No! No, it wasn't The Alpha. It wasn't your son. He wouldn't hurt me. Not ever." She sighed and looked at the ground. "I'm sorry... What happened? Who did this to you?" "Just.. It's a long story. My old pack didn't hold the nicest of people... But your son took me out of there. He saved me. You don't have to worry." Mitch said with what he hoped was a reassuring smile. Mrs. Kaplan finally let Mitch's shirt fall into place. "Who could do that to you? You're so..." She pinched one of his cheeks. "I've never met a male Omega before, but you are just darling." Mitch squirmed away from the touch and giggled. "Don't pinch me, it hurts." "Would you rather be tickled?" Avi's mom asked, a sparkle in her eye. Mitch gasped. "You wouldn't. Your son always tickles me, and I hate it." She rose her hands up daringly. Mitch squealed. "No! Wait, I'll be a good boy. I swear!" The mother laughed loudly at that and came at Mitch's sides. Mitch tried to squirm away but Avi's mother had him pinned by the counter. Mitch could hardly breathe, he was laughing so hard. Kirstin walked in the kitchen then. "What on earth--" "Kirstie, run! She's tickling people!" Mitch squealed, before laughing again. Avi's mother turned towards her, and a huge smile took over Kirstie's face. "Oh no." *******
