Chapter 45
Kevin and Todrick decorated the living room, because Kevin was way too excited about this holiday, that wasn't actually a holiday. Scott was doing the dishes in the kitchen, Mitch at his side, while Avi and Kirstie called Esther to check on Grace until they could drive down later. Jake and Alex were sitting on the couch, Alex choosing a romantic movie for everyone to watch. After drying off his hands, Scott grabbed Mitch in a gentle hug, swaying them a little and kissing his head once. "Happy Valentine's Day, my love." Mitch hugged him back a smile plastered on his face. "Same to you, Alpha." Scott took a deep breath, before speaking quietly. "I hope you know that any money I make at the Counsel will go towards your happiness. It doesn't have to be this silly, little holiday for me to shower you in love." "I am actually very aware of that. You tell me all the time. Save some for our wedding though, okay?" "I can't tell if you're mad at me or not. Was that sarcasm?" "No. Just reminding you that we have a wedding to plan." "Not today we don't. Today we have nothing to do but love each other, and annoy Avi with our over the top cuteness." Mitch giggled, pulling slightly away, just to look up into Scott's eyes. "You're such a sweetheart." "Thank you." Scott glanced at the now clean kitchen. "Did you eat enough, honey? I can make you something else if you're still hungry." "No, I'm fine. Thank you though." Mitch had tucked the rose stem into his back pocket, just so he wouldn't ruin it while he was earlier helping Scott clean. But Scott grabbed it, and met Mitch's eyes. "Want me to put it in some water?" "Yes please. Thank you." ********
Finally they were all seated on the couch, a ton of snacks on the table in front of them. Jake was shamelessly feeding Alex cookies, while Todrick and Kevin shared some of the candy that they'd gotten. Almost halfway through the movie, three of them had left the couch for different reasons, so Todrick paused the movie to wait for them to come back. Jake handed Alex a third cookie, but Alex shook his head. "No thank you." "Why not? Full already?" Jake teased with a smile. Alex smiled and shook his head again. "No, Sir. Just... Don't think I should eat that stuff." "Oh, is it making your stomach hurt?" Jake asked, fully prepared to apologize. Todrick leaned forward a little to look at Alex. "Don't you dare start with this again. Swear to me that what you're saying right now has nothing to do with what your body looks like." Alex just blushed and looked down. "I'm sorry, Sir." It clicked in Jake's head, and he frowned. "Oh, Allie... You are so much more than your weight." Alex leaned into his side so he wouldn't have to look at them anymore. "You think so?" "I do, baby. I promise you, it's the last thing anyone sees." Alex was quiet for a second, before he spoke very quietly. "What do you see in me?" "Your heart is what I see. It's the first thing anyone sees, and the only one that matters. The kindness you wield has a lot of power, Alex. You're kind to anybody, and everybody you meet. You just have to believe in yourself."
