Chapter 168
Mitch had been sitting on the couch with Jake and Alex, when Scott came back down the stairs. Scott hadn't said a word to anyone though, as he proceeded out the front door. Mitch watched him go and sighed, turning back to the television in front of him. After Todrick explained the entire situation to Avi and Kevin, they came out of Grace's room, Avi putting Grace back in her crib. Avi hurried out to the living room, and first snapped a command at Alex. "Pause it." Alex hurried to reach forward and pause the television, eyes wide. Avi then stood in front of the screen, and looked directly at Mitch. "What happened?" "Just an argument. He, uh... He was probably right." "Did you tell him that?" "No." "Okay... Well... Where is he?" Mitch glanced at Jake for a second. "He left." "Left? Where'd he go?" "I don't know, Sir." Avi glanced at the front door, his concern beginning to double. "And why didn't anyone try to stop him?" Mitch looked down at his lap. "I don't know, Sir..." Jake replied as well. "I didn't know that's what he was doing until I heard the door slam." Avi took a deep breath. "Damn it, Mitchell." He hurried over to the door, and began shouting orders at the others. "Kevin, I need you to call his cell phone. Alexander and Jake, get Kirstie and stay in Grace's room to take care of each other. Todrick, you're coming with me to look for him." They all immediately scrambled to follow orders, Kevin looking around quickly to find his phone. Mitch stood from the couch, and walked over to Avi, who was on his cell phone as well. Avi didn't pay him any mind, as he spoke to someone. "Hey.. Yeah, it's Avi. I have a small problem, with one of my Alphas sneaking out in the middle of the night. It's not a top priority, I just wanted you to be aware in case you see anything. Please call me back, if so." Avi hung up, and tucked his phone into his pocket, before grabbing a set of car keys from the small table near the door. "What, Mitchell?" "Can I help too?" "I think you've done plenty, thank you. I knew your mouth was going to get us into trouble, I just wished I'd be able to stop it. But now here we are, Jamie's snatchers on the loose, and we have an Alpha out there all by himself." Mitch's eyes filled with tears as the reality of the situation set in. "I didn't mean to..." Avi briefly considered yelling at him, but met Mitch's sad eyes, and felt bad. He dropped his tone's harshness. "I know you didn't, Tiny. But it happened. And now... I guess we just hope to God that nothing happens to him." ********
Mitch ended up staying in Grace's room with the others, sitting on the floor in complete silence as the guilt consumed him. Jake was speaking quietly to the other Omegas, answering all of their questions. "Yeah, Al... He's on foot. None of the cars are missing."
