Chapter 164
Mitch wondered why Scott was suddenly in a hurry, so he glanced behind himself to see the other Alpha. Scott kept him walking though, hurrying down the aisle. "Come on, honey. Walk a little faster." "Why? What's going on?" "Mitchie, haven't you learned by now to just trust me when these kinds of things happen?" Mitch was about to reply, but as they exited the aisle, an Alpha was leaning on the last shelf. "You should listen to him, Mitchie." He said the name as if he was a foreign speaker, unsure how the letters were pronounced. Mitch jumped, grabbing onto Scott's shirt as if to hold Scott in front of him like a shield. Scott growled at the other Alpha. "I beg your pardon?" The response was just a chuckle. "Take it easy. I just wanted to look at him." Scott took a step to block Mitch even more, not allowing the other Alpha to see him at all. "He's not some object for you to check out and decide if you like it or not. You're making him uncomfortable, so why don't you back off?" "Are you going to make me?" "If I have to. Though, for your own sake... I wouldn't initiate any kind of fight, if I were you." "Oh, because you're so bad ass?" "Don't curse in front of him. Have some respect." Mitch leaned around Scott for a second. "And yes. He actually is. Haven't you ever picked up a newspaper?" Scott hushed him, moving to cover him completely. "Baby, don't. That's not important." Mitch waved him off, and pushed his way to the front, to wave a finger in the other Alpha's face. "He's the Strongest Alpha in the entire world. So just turn around and walk away, before he beats you up so bad that it's embarrassing." The Alpha shifted his gaze down to Mitch, and raised an eyebrow in amusement. "Aren't you just the cutest thing? Trying to bad mouth me, to protect your Alpha." Mitch leaned forward again. "He doesn't need my protection. But you might." He leaned toward Mitch too, eyes darkening. "Speak to me like that again, and I'll beat your--" Scott pulled on Mitch's upper arm to back him up a step, before snarling at the Alpha. "Don't you dare talk to him like that." Mitch pushed against Scott's hold. "Try it! My Alpha will--" Scott pulled on his arm again. "Mitch, stop!" **********
Avi had been pacing back and forth in the living room, Alex, Jake and Kirstie sitting on the couch. Avi assumed they'd been waiting for him to dish out punishments, but he knew he wasn't going to until Kevin came back home to assure him that Kirstie was going to be fine. Kirstie was holding Grace, while Alex sat beside her holding Wyatt, and Jake was.. Well. Moral support? Suddenly they all heard the front door unlock, and Mitch rushed in, to hand Avi the blue box for Kirstie, before he rushed back outside to grab something else. Avi watched him curiously, until Mitch walked back into the house with Scott behind him. Alex gasped immediately at the purple bruise around Scott's eye, but Scott was smiling as if nothing had happened. Avi rolled his eyes. "Are you fuc--? Scott, what the Hell happened this time?" "Some asshole tried to touch my Omega, so I punched him in the teeth. When I turned to check on Mitchie, he got a cheap shot on my eye." Mitch frowned, reaching up to gently touch the swollen skin around Scott's eye. "It's my fault. I shouldn't have said those things..." Avi waved him off momentarily. "Scott, what happened after that? Did he get away?" Scott blushed a little and ducked his head down in shame. "Not exactly..." Mitch turned to Avi to explain. "He came toward me again, when Scott was distracted with his eye... And the instant his hand was on me, my Alpha kind of... Sort of... Broke his arm." Avi's eyes widened. "You did what?!" Kirstie nodded slowly, looking at Alex. "Awesome." Scott looked up from the floor to meet Avi's eyes. "I'm so sorry, it was an accident!' Avi just smiled at him. "I'm not angry, Rooks. That's seriously impressive." Scott frowned. "But... He was hurt really bad. And I apologized a bunch of times, and--And I--" "Scott, I don't care. Mitchell's safe, and I don't see a single scratch on him. So a job well done, as far as I'm concerned." Scott thought about it a little more, and looked down to his hands, holding them in front of his face. "Sometimes I forget.. I didn't mean to hurt anyone." Avi rolled his eyes, and looked to Mitch. "Well? Was it awesome?" "I mean.. Kind of. I was kind of scared.." "Why's that?" "Even Alpha was kind of scared when it happened. But the other Alpha was so embarrassed that he'd been bested, that he didn't want to blame my Alpha for any of it. He was just going to make up a lie, or say that he didn't know who did it." "And even if he did, it was just self defense. The other Alpha touched you first, right?" "Yes, Sir. My Alpha would never pick a fight with anyone." "See? So it isn't a problem." Kirstie rushed past Avi with an ice bag in her hands, giving him a subtle glare. "Not a problem, huh?" When she placed the ice over Scott's eye, he flinched, but held it where Kirstie wanted him to. "Thank you." Mitch turned and looked up at Scott. "It was a cheap shot anyway. He's lucky you felt so bad about what you did, or you probably could've killed him." Scott frowned. "Aw, don't say that... I really didn't mean to hurt him." Avi spoke to him suddenly. "I'm very curious how that happened, by the way." Mitch turned quickly to answer him. "Well, after he hit my Alpha in the eye, he reached around me and put his hand on my..." He glanced behind him at Scott for a word. "My... Butt? Can I say butt? Is that a bad word? Whatever." Avi raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything. Mitch flipped back around to face Avi again. "Anyway, so after he grabbed me, my Alpha's eyes went totally red, and then he grabbed the other guy's arm to pull him away from me, and ended up breaking his wrist, I think." Kevin walked in the front door then, holding the door open for Todrick. "What? Someone broke their wrist?" Avi leaned around Scott to see Kevin. "Nah. Scott here, went a little too Alpha on some kid, and broke his arm." Mitch turned to face Kevin too. "It wasn't a kid. That guy was in the middle of a midlife crisis." Kevin rushed over to Scott and took the ice from his eye to examine the bruising. "Oh dear. Are you okay? Does it hurt at all?" "It's kind of... Like.. Thumping. I can feel it." Kevin nodded once. "As expected." He looked to Todrick. "Would you please go grab some pain killers? Four, please." Todrick nodded once, and headed upstairs. Scott didn't like the thought of everyone's attention on him, so he pointed at the blue box Avi was holding. "Avi has a question about Kirstie's health." Kevin turned quickly, one eyebrow raised. "Sir?"
