Chapter 49

Avi swallowed hard. "Tomorrow? Already?" Kevin nodded. "Yes, sir. I'm sorry. For all of you. I'm really sorry. If you don't mind me asking.. What are you guys going to do? We're not going to lose our Omegas are we?" Avi waved him over to stand by Scott. "Okay so. This is Kevin, everyone. He's very intelligent and I think his opinions could benefit our decisions. So with your permission, I'm going to allow him to sit in this meeting." Most of the Alphas nodded, and the ones that didn't were just too lazy. They weren't disagreeing, just didn't want to make an effort. Avi smiled at them, and then looked at Kevin. "We're going to have to rebel in some way.. Ideas?" Kevin shrugged. "As dumb as it may sound.. I think hiding them would be the best option. I don't know if you all can overpower The Counsel. But you can certainly outwit them." Avi pondered that. "Where would we hide them?" "I really don't know, Sir. Or you could put a wire on Kirstin so you all can listen in on whatever goes on there if she is taken to The Counsel HQ or whatever." Kevin suggested. Scott shook his head. "We can't risk that. Not only could we get Kirstin into huge trouble, but even if we can hear what's happening, that doesn't mean we can stop it." An Alpha agreed somewhere in the crowd. "Good point." Avi looked out at the Alphas. "Could we hide them?" Another Alpha stood. "Coldplay Pack. We would have to hide them really well. And we would probably get lots of shit for it. Who knows what they would do to the rest of us? They could take our Betas. Or worse, take our other Omegas just to prove a point. It's not safe here anymore, you guys.." Suddenly Kevin gasped. "Oh my God. I think I've figured it out.. They know you guys are seconds away from rebelling.. They know you are close to the breaking point. I think they thought you guys could beat them.. But the only way to stop you from doing it was to take your Omegas away. I mean, I've been watching Avi mope around all week. No doubt you all behaved similar to him. They hit you right where they knew it would hurt the most." Everyone was silent for a moment. One more Alpha stood. "But then why not take all of them? Why only take the weak ones?" Scott stepped forward then. "Raise your hand if your the lead Alpha in your pack." About two thirds of the Alphas in the room raised their hands. Scott nodded. "And keep your hand up if the only Omega being sent away, is yours." Every single hand stayed up. Scott nodded again. "See that? They knew they'd be taking Omegas away from the leaders. The weakest Omegas usually drift towards the strongest Alphas. They know that. If they depress the strongest Alphas, we won't be strong enough to take them down." Avi scoffed. "Bad news, Counsel. Not only did you depress us... You just so happened to piss of the strongest Alphas in the area." Some people cheered. Kevin looked around. "What are we going to do? Are we really going to hide them? Or are we sending the Alphas to war for them?" Silence again. There was a loud sigh, and then an Alpha in the front of the last row stood. "Sheeran Pack. Honestly.. I think we would all do anything for our Omegas. Even go to war. But what if we lose? What will they do to our Omegas? But if we hide them.. What will happen to the rest of our packs? Sure, we can all defend ourselves. That's what Alphas do. But most of our Betas can't do that. Our Omegas are completely defenseless." The Alpha next to him stood up as well. "Leading Alpha in the Hozier Pack. You bring up a good point.. But any way we do this it's going to suck. We just have to decide which risk we want to take. We hide them, they could get caught. Or Counsel Staff could come after us. We fight them, they will come after the weaker ones in our packs. We do nothing, they'll come after our Omegas. We're just going to have to risk something." He sat down, and all eyes fell back on Avi. Avi pinched the bridge of his nose. "Ugh. Fuck me. Guys.. I really don't know what to tell you. I don't know what we should do. Whatever it is, they are not going to take my baby away from me. Not a chance. But I don't know what we should do." Kevin cleared his throat. "If I may interject again.. I would suggest.. Actually. You guys could run, if you want. Just get your whole pack in a car, and follow a line to somewhere better. Once you're out of the area, they'll have to find you if they want your Omegas." Scott looked up at Avi. "So we should run? Just pick up everything and run?" The Alpha from the Sheeran pack stood again. "What if they catch us? They'll be madder than ever." Kevin shrugged. "If they find you, they won't be in their strongest place. They won't be able to use surroundings against you. And if I know Alphas as well as I think I do, you will literally kill anyone that dares to touch one of your Omegas. You will be victorious." The Sheeran Alpha stayed on his feet. "What then? We win and go home?" Avi opened his mouth to speak, but Scott put a hand up. "Wait.." And glanced around, confusion dancing in his eyes. Mitch emerged from the hallway. "I am so sorry to bug you all again. I know I'm not allowed in here right now, and I wouldn't be out here if it weren't important." Scott nodded. "Talk fast." "Avi, Sir. Kirstin is in hysterics. Can you please.. I just don't know how to get her to stop crying.." Mitch said softly. Avi nodded. "Ladies, Gentlemen. This Counsel stuff can't keep going on. I suggest you pack up and run for the hills. Best of luck to you all. If you get caught by a Counsel Member, send out the signal and we'll all come running. We will all come out of this alive. Understood?" Every head nodded. The Alphas all stood to leave, and a few of them walked up to Avi before he could disappear down the hall. They all complimented how polite and well behaved his pack was. Avi thanked them before politely excusing himself to take care of Kirstin. Scott hugged Mitch the moment everyone started moving around. He just stood there and held him, knowing that life was about to get a lot tougher for the both of them. The Alpha from the Derulo pack walked up to Scott and tapped him on the shoulder. Scott turned. "Yes?" "I just wanted to tell you that you've trained an amazing Omega. You two are perfect for each other, I can see it. I can practically smell your love for each other on both of you. I wish the best for you two, and your pack." He said with a smile. Scott smiled back. "That's very nice of you to say. Thank you. I wish the best for you and your pack as well." "Thank you, Alpha." The other Alpha said before turning and walking away. Mitch saw Kevin go down the hall out of the corner of his eye before Scott flipped around and grabbed Mitch's shoulders. Scott's smile was practically covering his whole face. "He just called me Alpha! Me! Holy shit.. Oops. Don't repeat that." Mitch giggled. "I won't. Of course he called you Alpha. Why wouldn't he?" "Well usually Alphas don't call other Alphas by title unless they respect them enough to admit that they're of a higher ranking. Like.. I call Avi 'Alpha' because I'm willing to admit he's stronger than I am. I can't believe he called me that.." Scott trailed off, letting his hands fall from Mitch's shoulders. Mitch shook his head fondly. "Of course he did. Lots of Alphas respect you, Sir. You just don't see it." ******
