Chapter 31 Change Of Plans

"Sir!" John said as Damon walked out of the apartment. He had left the office immediately he heard the news. Damon had a deep frown on his face as he walked towards the elevator. "She moved it to two weeks from now," Damon said, and John nodded, and he got into the elevator with Damon. He pressed the close button and waited impatiently for what Damon would say, but Damon was silent as they rode the elevator to the parking lot. "Do you think she knows about your plan of getting married? Why would she move the engagement up then? It was supposed to happen six weeks from now. Not two weeks!" John said and couldn't hide his agitation. That was their plan. Damon was supposed to have his wedding a week before his engagement party. If he could, he would hold the wedding on the day of his engagement, but that would be too risky. He couldn't let his grandmother ruin his wedding day. But he had underestimated her and thought if he went along with her without declining his forced engagement, she wouldn't act up... not acting up seemed to be what had pushed her to do this... "What do you think I should do?" Damon asked his agitated secretary, who stood behind him. he turned to look at John, who was thinking intently on his question. "I think you shouldn't show up on your engagement day. That way, you will make it clear to her that you aren't going to do what she wants," John answered, and Damon chuckled. "Have you met Melissa Carson. It doesn't matter if I don't show up. She can simply come up with an excuse for that and carry on with it. I have to give her a reason not to. A reason why she wouldn't be able to announce the alliance she is planning to make. A way to stop her, " Damon explained. A way to his freedom from her control.
