Chapter 3 Betrayal

"What do you mean Lia!" Julia's heart immediately dropped in complete panic... "I'm sorry Julia, I know I shouldn't have done this, but I'm just afraid and I think Charlie will find us sooner or later... what if he tries to kill us then...I think it's better if we go back with him... maybe we can plead with him or something. Or promise to pay him little by little...." Lia stuttered, her eyes filled with complete fear... Julia couldn't believe what she was hearing... she felt like her entire world was crumbling right before her and her entire body started to tremble in fear... "What did you do lia? what the hell did you do!" Julia asked in a low icy voice, her eyes filled with rage, confusion and fear... "While you were asleep on the bus... I called him and told him we were headed to Everton," Lia confessed in a low voice, and Julia almost passed out right there in the middle of the bus station... "With what phone? I threw the damn phone out of the bus! we were going to have a fresh start!" Julia was finding it hard not to raise her voice and draw attention to the both of them but it was hard not to because of all the emotions she was feeling all at once... Lia's trembling hand slowly reached into her pocket and she brought out a phone Julia felt like smacking her right across the face... "Do you what you have f*cking done! Charlie is going to kill us when he finds us... we ran away, Lia, and we didn't just run away, or have you forgotten that we stole some cash from him...! he is a crazy man who had us locked up and was about to sell us to a brothel! How could you do this to us? Do you have any idea... He is a part of the ten-rings organisation the one we were getting sold to..." Julia blurted out in pure anger... and uncontrollably tears started to flow out of Lia's eyes... "I'm sorry...I was just afraid and tired of all of this... "I'm sorry Julia" Lia ran her hand through her hair and squatted in front of Julia... Her shoulders started to shake uncontrollably as she cried and Julia didn't feel a single ounce of pity for her now... instead, she felt complete rage and disappointment because they were in the same kind of mess.. Lia knew exactly what kind of person Charlie was and knew what would happen if anyone crossed him... So she couldn't understand why she would do such a thing if she was scared why would she want to go back... "Come on, we have to get out of here before he finds us " Julia said and sighed deeply... safety was what mattered first... Lia slowly raised her head to look at Julia and shook her head... "I'm sorry Julia but I can't go with you..." She muttered in a low voice... she red needed a smacking... "There is no time for you to act up, Lia. If you called him on the bus, then he would be here soon; get up..." Julia said firmly, and Lia got up; Julia was expecting Lia to follow after her, but instead, Lia simply wiped her tears away and sighed deeply... "I didn't want to run away from Charlie in the first place but you forced me to... this is all your fault I would have eventually found a way for him to let me go on his own" Julia felt like she was staring at a completely different person... her jaw almost dropped and she couldn't believe her ears... This couldn't be the lia that she knew... the lia that gave her more courage to escape because she wanted both of them to be safe... The lia who she forgave for so many things that she caused the both of them... The lia who she was trying so hard to be strong for... "Lia..." Julia said her name out in disbelief and Lia scoffed.... "You should get going; I'm staying right here till Charlie arrives," Lia said firmly. Julia knew at that moment that she couldn't convince her friend any longer... it was either she left now and saved herself, or she waited with Lia till Charlie found them... Julia swallowed and was about to say some last few words to liLiaut her eyes caught the glimpse of two familiar faces and her heart more than dropped... It was Rex and Loid.... Two of Charlie's men ... She immediately turned away and gasped... "Julia..." Lia started but Julia didn't wait to hear what else she had to say before she immediately started to walk away as fast as she could... she could hear Lia calling out to her as she took a turn around the corner and started on her hills... Lia didn't look back till she was out of the bus station, are heart was racing so fast in her chest as she tried to navigate through the busy evening streets of Everton... it would be dark soon and she had no idea what to do or where to go, Lia's betrayal was more than enough to leave her completely disoriented... They could have looked for a solution to their predicament together, but now she was left all alone to solve her problems... Julia felt her eyes becoming blurred by tears as she walked to the parking lot of the building which led to a different part of the city... the money she had on her was even barely enough... "What am I going to do" She muttered as she gripped the handle of her small bag that contained a few clothes she had purchased from her short stay at the small town she had run away from... Julia was about to take a turn when she sighted Rex and her eyes grew wide in shock! How could they have found her so fast? She turned away and started to walk back towards the bus station quickly, her eyes scanning the whole area for a safe exit till she finally sighted one, but immediately she glanced behind her, she saw that rex was still hovering around and it would only be a matter of time before he sighted her... Julia quickly reached into her bag and took out a face cap... And as she was about to put it on she heard a voice that made chills run down her spine. "Stop right there!" Rex yelled out, and Julia could hear the raw rage in his voice; she almost froze but instead bolted.... She ran and ran and didn't look back, she kept running hoping against all hope that she would lose him... The sun was going down as she took a left turn by an alley, then a right turn, and then another turn before she finally could see what looked like a street... She used up all the energy she had left and ran right into the middle of the street and her heart stopped the next minute when she saw a car approaching her at full speed!...
