Chapter 8 He Hit Her
What a flawless performance. There wasn't a single crack in it.
Evelyn hadn't expected Bianca to be pregnant too.
But was it really Adrian’s child?
She remembered that three months ago, Bianca had set her up but ended up in the wrong room, spending the night with a scoundrel. If she truly was pregnant, the baby’s paternity was highly questionable.
Still, Evelyn couldn't deny that Adrian spent every night with Bianca.
Thinking about this, a piercing pain spread through her heart.
Yet even that pain paled in comparison to the sight of Adrian tenderly holding Bianca, his care full of affection, in this moment.
Bianca clutched her cheek, tears streaming down her face like a delicate flower wilting in the rain.
"Adrian, don't blame Evelyn, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have fallen in love with you. But please, convince Evelyn not to harm our baby…" said Bianca.
At the mention of a baby, Evelyn noticed the subtle shift in Adrian’s expression.
He suddenly raised his sharp brows, his cold eyes cutting through her like ice daggers.
"Evelyn!" he roared, his voice brimming with fury.
He never called her name gently. Every time, it was filled with hatred and anger.
“She forced me,” Evelyn said, trying to keep herself from collapsing. “Adrian, don’t let her deceive you. Bianca isn’t who you think she is. She..."
"Shut up!" he cut her off, his deep voice dripping with menace. “Did you just hit Bianca?”
Evelyn bit her dry lips. "Yes."
She admitted it without hesitation and saw Bianca smirking behind Adrian’s back, her expression smug and sinister.
At that moment, Adrian’s dark eyes ignited with rage. His fury was so intense. It seemed as though he wanted to burn Evelyn to death.
Slap!
His hand struck her face, leaving her stunned.
The taste of blood lingered at the corner of her mouth, so bitter, so acrid.
Her eyes stung, and tears brimmed uncontrollably before spilling over.
He hit her.
Though he had always treated her with disdain and loathing, he had never laid a hand on her before.
"Get over here and apologize to Bianca!" Adrian commanded sternly. His handsome face was frosty. Yet, deep in his eyes, a flicker of something unreadable passed, something Evelyn couldn’t decipher.
Suppressing her glee, Bianca stepped forward with feigned reluctance. “Adrian, let it go. Evelyn and I are still sisters at the end of the day. I don’t need her apology. This is my fault. After all, you two are married. I shouldn’t be seeing you anymore. But I just can’t help myself…"
"Bianca, drop the act! This is all your doing!" Evelyn swallowed back her tears and boldly exposed Bianca’s lies.
Bianca’s face crumpled with hurt, tears flowing anew. “Evelyn, how could you accuse me like this? What’s happened to you?”
"It's all because of you! I finally saw through you, you scheming, manipulative witch!” Evelyn snapped.
“Evelyn!” Standing beside them, Adrian was furious. He stormed over to the hospital bed and grabbed Evelyn, hauling her in front of Bianca.
"Apologize!" Adrian demanded.
