Chapter 4 To Them, She Was Nothing More Than a Dog
Evelyn couldn't reconcile the vulgar, profanity-laden woman calling her a "wild tramp" with the image of Bianca she had always known.
From the moment she first entered the Taylor family home and laid eyes on Bianca, Evelyn had thought Bianca epitomized elegance, kindness, and the grace of a true noblewoman. But now…
"I'm so angry! I planned everything so carefully. Drugged that drink for Adrian, called the reporters early the next morning to catch us leaving the hotel room together. That way, Mr. Pierce Senior would have no choice but to let me marry into the family. But I messed up the room number and ended up sleeping with some nobody! Meanwhile, that wild tramp Evelyn gets to take my place!" Bianca's voice was sharp with anger.
So this was the truth. This was the real face of the "kind" sister who had pleaded for her just moments ago.
Evelyn's heart pounded violently, an overwhelming mixture of bitterness and disbelief surging through her.
This was Adrian’s cherished angel in his eyes.
This was the graceful young lady admired by all.
This was the elder sister she had respected for so long.
"How could you be so careless and get the wrong room?" Margaret scolded with disapproval.
"I wanted to make things more exciting, so I took a little of that drug myself. How was I supposed to know the effects would be so strong?" Bianca's tone grew agitated. "What now? I can’t stand the thought of that wild tramp occupying my rightful position as Adrian’s wife. Adrian is my man!"
"That's simple! You saw how worried Adrian was about you earlier. Just say the word, and he’ll divorce that tramp immediately!" William said confidently.
Margaret chimed in with a smug smile. "Your dad is right. Adrian only married Evelyn because Mr. Pierce Senior forced him to. His heart belongs to you, Bianca. All you need to do is ask, and the position of the Pierce family’s young mistress will be yours."
Bianca let out a cold, disdainful laugh. "What qualifications does that wench have to compete with me? If it weren’t for her matching my bone marrow, she’d never have stepped foot into our house. Do you know how disgusted I feel every time I have to call her 'sister'?"
Every word from Bianca's lips struck Evelyn like a blow. Her vision darkened, and an icy chill swept through her body.
It turned out that the Taylor family adopted her not out of kindness, but because Bianca needed her bone marrow.
The five years of sisterhood were nothing more than a sham.
In her absence, she was nothing but a wild tramp in their eyes.
How ironic.
Evelyn felt her stomach churn. The truth was so vile, it made her physically ill.
"It’s so frustrating! I even staged that whole suicide act to pressure Adrian into divorcing her immediately. But before I could push him, he left in a hurry for some urgent meeting," Bianca complained unhappily.
It turns out that even the suicide attempt had been a sham. It was a performance designed by Bianca to manipulate Adrian into divorcing Evelyn.
Evelyn suddenly found it ironic. How could a man as intelligent as Adrian fall for someone like Bianca?
"Don’t worry, Bianca. Later, I’ll call Adrian and tell him that tramp deliberately came here to provoke you, causing you to have an emotional breakdown and attempt suicide again. I’m sure by then, Adrian will agree to divorce her immediately!" Margaret said with a sly tone.
Margaret’s plan seemed to please Bianca.
"Mom, you’re brilliant! Let’s do that!" Bianca said.
The last lingering attachment Evelyn felt toward her so-called family shattered completely in that moment.
Without any hesitation, she chuckled softly and walked straight in through the door. "I believe one thing, Bianca. As long as I’m still breathing, you’ll never take the position of Mrs. Pierce from me."
