Chapter 6 You Promised You'd Marry Me
"No! Adrian..." Evelyn’s face turned pale with fear at Adrian’s actions.
She had never seen him act so cold and violent before, and in that moment, she suddenly feared losing the child in her womb because of him.
But Adrian gave her no chance to escape. He held her tightly in his arms, showing no tenderness, only punishment.
Evelyn felt no joy, and the increasing pain only added to her discomfort.
She never imagined Adrian hated her this much.
She couldn’t tell how much time had passed, but soon the pain became unbearable, and she lost consciousness. In the long, hazy dream, she once again found herself in that beautiful summer twelve years ago.
The sun, the beach, and that camphor tree.
Little Evelyn was picking seashells on the beach when she saw a boy sitting silently on a big rock in the distance, looking unhappy.
That was her first time seeing Adrian. At twelve, he was already strikingly handsome and had a tall, strong figure.
But he looked so unhappy.
Barefoot, Evelyn carefully walked over and handed him a colorful seashell she had worked so hard to find.
“Hi, this is for you. I hope you’ll be happy every day.”
At that moment, Adrian turned his head to look at her. His long and narrow eyes were filled with wariness.
He was wearing a designer outfit, even his shoes were limited edition.
On the other hand, Evelyn was in a faded dress that had been washed so many times it was almost white. The two of them looked completely out of place together.
But in the end, he extended his hand to her.
They met again the next day, at the same time, when he handed her a cup of milk tea as a return gift.
Evelyn smiled and accepted it. It was her first time drinking milk tea, and it was really delicious.
Adrian just looked at her, thinking that this smile was even sweeter than the milk tea itself.
That summer, they would meet unexpectedly on the beach every day and play together.
One day, Evelyn's foot was cut by glass and started bleeding. Adrian carried her to the clinic on his back.
At that time, she was lying on his back. Her cheeks flushed by the sunset, her heart was beating fast.
She blushed and couldn’t help but tighten her arms around his neck. “Adrian, I think... I think I want to be with you forever, to play with you every day.”
Without hesitation, Adrian replied, “Sure, when I grow up, I’ll marry you and make you my bride. That way, we can always be together and play forever.”
But after the innocent promise, they were separated for years.
She never thought that after saying goodbye that day, they would never see each other again.
When they met again, he had become an elite young man with a woman he deeply loved, and that woman was Bianca.
When Evelyn woke up, she felt tired and sore. The surroundings were unfamiliar, and moving even a little was incredibly painful.
"Oh, I thought you were dead. Finally decided to open your eyes?" A cold, mocking voice sounded next to her. Evelyn looked up and saw Bianca’s face, glowing with beauty. Her fox-like eyes flashed with obvious anger and jealousy.
Jealousy?
Evelyn didn't understand what Bianca was jealous of her for.
"Evelyn, you truly are the most despicable woman I've ever met. To end up in the hospital like this!” said Bianca.
Hospital?
Evelyn looked around and realized she was in a hospital.
She remembered what had happened before she passed out and suddenly understood why Bianca was jealous.
Her heart felt full of irony, but she raised a victorious smile. “It’s all because Adrian is too powerful. I told him I didn’t want it.”
"You bitch!" Bianca’s veins popped as she spat out the words. “Evelyn, you shameless wild tramp! Adrian only used you to vent his frustration!”
