Chapter 2 You Don't Deserve To Carry My Child
The next day, Evelyn woke up in pain and exhaustion, her entire body aching.
Before she could fully gather her thoughts, a box of pills was thrown at her.
"Take this," Adrian’s cold voice commanded.
Evelyn looked up and saw him already dressed. His cold and noble appearance was completely different from the brutal man he was last night.
Staring at the box of contraceptive pills, Evelyn’s heart sank.
She was already pregnant. She couldn’t take them. These pills could harm the baby.
“What’s the delay? Do I need to feed it to you myself?” Adrian’s tone grew impatient as he noticed her hesitation.
“Listen, Evelyn,” he sneered. “Don’t you dare dream of bearing my child. A shameless, ungrateful woman like you doesn’t deserve to carry it!”
Each of Adrian's words pierced her soul.
It was summer, yet Evelyn felt as though her chest had been pierced by a chilling gust of wind.
She had thought the child might bridge the gap between them, but it turned out she had been fooling herself.
She had even lost the courage to tell him that she was already carrying his child.
With Adrian’s piercing gaze on her, Evelyn had no choice. She took a pill and pretended to swallow it. In reality, she hid it beneath her tongue.
Evelyn felt a pang of guilt, afraid that Adrian might see through her. Just then, his phone rang.
He glanced at the caller ID and answered without hesitation. Moments later, his sharp brows furrowed deeply. “What? Bianca attempted suicide? I’ll be right there!”
Evelyn froze in shock. Bianca tried to take her own life?
Forgetting her physical discomfort, she rushed to wash up, quickly changing into fresh clothes before heading downstairs.
As Adrian was about to drive away, the passenger door suddenly opened.
“Get your dirty hands off my car,” he snapped coldly, “Who allowed you to sit in my car?”
Evelyn flinched at his words, pulling her hand back like a scolded child and timidly looking at Adrian.
“Adrian, I’m worried about Bianca too. Let me come with you,” she pleaded.
“Worried?” he scoffed, his disdainful gaze piercing through her. “If Bianca dies, wouldn’t you be the happiest person alive?”
With that, he slammed the gas pedal and sped off.
Evelyn’s face turned pale as she stood frozen for a few seconds before hailing a cab to follow him.
At the city’s central hospital, Evelyn trailed behind Adrian to a ward.
She saw him walking toward the bed, his expression filled with worry. Bianca sat there, pale, her eyes red from crying, looking fragile and heartbroken.
But thankfully, she wasn’t in any danger anymore. Evelyn let out a silent sigh of relief.
Seeing Adrian, Bianca immediately collapsed into his arms, sobbing.
“Adrian…” Bianca called his name with deep affection, confiding her grievances in his embrace.
This scene unfolded before Evelyn’s eyes, making it seem as if Adrian and Bianca were the loving couple, while she, Evelyn, was nothing more than an outsider.
Swallowing her pain, Evelyn stepped forward and called, “Bianca…”
“Evelyn, you shameless ingrate! How dare you come here to see Bianca?” Just as Evelyn was about to enter the ward, a harsh voice rang out behind her.
The voice was very familiar. It was Bianca’s mother, Margaret Taylor.
Evelyn turned around, just in time to receive a resounding slap across her face, blurring her vision.
“You despicable woman! Our family took you in, fed you, clothed you, and this is how you repay us? By stealing Bianca’s fiancé?” Margaret’s voice was venomous.
She was referring to the incident three months ago when Evelyn had mysteriously ended up sleeping with Adrian, but that was not something Evelyn had planned at all.
Evelyn wanted to explain, but before she could, another slap landed on her face. This slap caused her mouth to bleed, and her vision blurred, almost making her collapse.
Then, Bianca’s father, William Taylor, shouted angrily. “Evelyn, from now on, you’re no longer part of our family. The Taylor family has no place for someone as shameless and manipulative as you!”
With those words, William kicked Evelyn to the ground.
