Chapter 8 Do You Care About Me?

"Miracle?" Mateo moved his face away, looking down at Miracle below him. He was instantly surprised to see Miracle with her eyes closed. Frantically, Mateo patted Miracle's cheek lightly, but the woman remained unconscious. Until then, Mateo's gaze was drawn to Miracle's head, which began to drip blood. His face became even more panicked as he saw the blood dripping down Miracle's head. Mateo immediately covered Miracle's wound with his hand, stopping the blood from coming out. "Miracle, wake up," Mateo tried to wake Miracle again, but the woman kept her eyes closed as her face paled. Orina, who saw Miracle, fainted and immediately approached Mateo and Miracle. "Mateo, what's wrong with Miracle?" she asked anxiously and frantically. "She's hurt. Ask the waiter to call a doctor." Mateo rose to his feet as he carried Miracle's body bridal style to the room. With an increasingly panicked face, Orina immediately asked the maid to call a doctor. Upon arriving at the room, Mateo laid Miracle's body on the bed. Mateo also asked the maid to bring him a towel to stop the blood from coming out of Miracle's head. Mateo's face remained flat and cold. However, his eyes were worried about Miracle, who never regained consciousness. Not long after, Orina entered with the doctor who had just arrived. Mateo immediately stepped aside as the doctor began to examine Miracle's condition. "Mateo, Miracle will be okay, right?" asked Orina frantically and anxiously as she stared at Miracle, whom the doctor examined. "She'll be fine," Mateo replied coldly. "How is my son-in-law?" Orina asked anxiously as the doctor finished examining Miracle. "Mrs. Orina, Mrs. Miracle's head injury is not severe. She was injured on impact when she fell from the horse. Lady Miracle also has a wound on her ankle. I hope that in the next few days, Lady Miracle will get more rest to recover her health," the doctor informed her. Orina smiled. "Thank you, Doctor." "Then you will excuse me." The doctor bowed his head, then excused himself from Orina and Mateo's presence. "Mom, you go home. I'll have the driver take you," Mateo said coldly. "But, Mommy wants to take care of Miracle," Orina said worriedly. "I can take care of her. You go home. Dad will need you," Mateo replied in the same tone, flat and cold. Orina sighed softly. "Alright, but give Mom the news about Miracle." Mateo nodded briefly. Then, Orina moved closer to Miarcle and kissed her son-in-law on the forehead. Now, Orina walked away from Mateo and Miracle. Just as Orina left, Mateo sat on the edge of the bed and stared at Miracle's pale face. "You're so stubborn," Mateo said in a low voice. He was about to touch Miracle's face but immediately decided against it. "Don't ever try to fight me. Because you'll never win. You and Selena are very different. Although I never loved Selena, she always obeyed me. She never went against what I said," he continued, his gaze fixed on Miracle. Then Mateo was about to move from his seat, but suddenly, he felt his hand being held by a soft hand. Now Mateo averted his gaze-his flat, cold face showed surprise in his sharp irises. Yes, he was looking at Miracle, who had opened her eyes. "You're awake, aren't you?" Mateo's voice sounded so cold. "I've been awake since you compared me to my sister," Miracle replied as she held her head, which was starting to hurt. "Take a rest." Mateo ignored Miracle's words, getting up from his seat. However, again and again, Miracle's hand restrained his. The woman did not let Mateo leave. "You need a rest, Miracle. Stop overthinking," Mateo reminded with a warning look. "Why did you help me? I mean, why didn't you let me fall?" asked Miracle with a look so fixed on Mateo. "Do you care about me now?" Mateo pushed away Miracle's hand that was touching his. "Care? Does my face show that I care about you? We've only been married for a few days. I don't want to be blamed by your father if you die," he replied coldly. Mateo honestly did not know why he had to help Miracle. He should have just let her fall and not helped her. But in reality, he was helping her. Miracle glared. She stared hard at Mateo. "You think I'm so easy to die just because I fell off a horse?" she exclaimed unhappily. "Maybe, because anything can happen. I don't want to blame your father for your death," he retorted. There was no other reason; the most appropriate one was to say he was afraid of being blamed by her father. However, in truth, that was not the reason Mateo was helping Miracle. "Why are you such a pain in the ass!" Miracle growled, holding back her anger. If it weren't for his aching body, she would have attacked the man in front of him. "You'd better get some rest. I'll ask a servant to help you. Your leg is hurt too. Don't move around much. For the next few weeks, the servants will help you," Mateo said, ignoring Miracle's anger. Miracle snorted. She cursed inwardly, cursing her bad luck in falling off the horse. Her leg was injured, and he needed to rest more at home. "Get rid of that damn horse of yours! I'm going to make you pay for that horse of yours!" exclaimed an unhappy Miracle. Yes, how could she not? Mateo's horse caused her to fall like this. "You're the one who didn't listen to me! My horse wouldn't have rebelled if you hadn't hit it! You must have hit my horse!" Mateo retorted with a probing look at Miracle. "I didn't hit your horse! I just patted it lightly and not hard! And only once! It's usually okay for me to pat my horse's body!" retorted Miracle, who didn't accept being blamed. Mateo exhaled harshly. "Same thing, Miracle! Molly can't be bullied. She doesn't like anyone being rough with her! It's your fault for not taking my word for it!" "You come over here and duck your head a little toward me. I'm going to pat and hit you on the head so you can tell the difference between patting and hitting!" replied an increasingly annoyed Miracle. "Talking to you only gives me a headache. You're sick and you're still loud!" Mateo exclaimed. Miracle clucked in displeasure. "I just wanted to tell you the difference between patting and hitting! I don't know how you can lead the De Luca Group if you don't know the difference between hitting and patting!" Mateo growled. His jaw tightened. He kept swearing to himself. If this woman were awake, it would not be quiet. Wordlessly, Mateo walked away from Miracle. "Hey, Mateo, what the hell are you doing leaving me? You know my leg still hurts!" Miracle shouted. However, that didn't stop the man's footsteps. Miracle snorted in annoyance. That man was annoying. Not long after, Miarcle's gaze shifted to a servant who stepped up to him. "Mrs. Miracle," greeted the servant politely. "What brings you here?" asked Miracle coldly. "Madam, I was asked by Mr. Mateo to look after Madam at all times, until she recovers her health," the servant replied. "I can take care of myself. I don't need your help," retorted the stubborn Miracle. "Madam, please help me. If you don't, Mr. Mateo will be very angry with me, Madam," replied the maid with a frightened look. Miracle chuckled. "Your master is such a monster. Why does he get angry so easily? What exactly does he eat every day?" The servant bowed his head; she seemed to be holding a smile on his face at Miracle's words. Miracle let out a rough breath. He looked pityingly at the servant standing before him. "Fine! You can help me! Now you'd better sit down, aren't you tired of standing like that?" she replied in a still annoyed tone. Yes, of course, she couldn't bear to see the maid who had earned the wrath of that annoying man. "Thank you, ma'am," the servant replied as she bowed.
