Chapter 1 Replacement Bride

Her face was pale from the never-ending crying, making Miracle look messy. Her eyes were blank, with her mind wandering ahead. A few hours ago, she had just gotten married to her twin sister's future husband. Bad luck came into Miracle's life when her twin sister ran away from the wedding, forcing her to marry a man she had never known. Yes, Miracle's life seems to have stopped here. Getting married is what every woman dreams of. But this marriage was not hers. If Miracle had known it would be like this, she would never have attended her twin sister's wedding. If time could be turned back, Miracle would have avoided it. But now, she was trapped in a marriage that she never wanted. Now, Miracle wiped the tears from her eyes. Miracle wanted to escape, but she certainly couldn't do that. If she ran away from the marriage, her family would suffer the shame. It was enough that her family was humiliated when her twin sister ran away. And Miracle could not do the same. The footsteps entering the room made Miracle stop his reverie and gaze towards the door. Immediately, Miracle's face changed as a man still wrapped in a white tuxedo stood before him. The handsome man's face was cold, and the look in his eyes was arrogant. "Wipe your tears; I don't want people to think I'm torturing you." The man's heavy voice admonished Miracle, and he gave a cold stare to Miracle, sitting not far from him. The man took off his tuxedo and placed it on the sofa. Miracle glanced at the man. With reddened and puffy eyes, he stared coldly at the man. "Why are you here?" she asked, not liking that the man was in the room. "This is the bridal suite. I don't think you need to ask." The man replied firmly. He was fed up with getting stupid questions from Miracle. "Go away! You can find another room. Your house is big and must have many rooms," Miracle retorted coldly as she turned her face away, not wanting to look at the man. Even though she knew this was her bridal suite, she didn't want to sleep in the same room as him. "I should have kicked you out. This is not the room for you. But you came and delivered yourself in place of your twin sister who ran away. Do you really want to marry me?" The man said so sarcastically. His dark brown irises sharpened, glaring at Miracle. "Don't talk nonsense, Mateo! I replaced my twin sister because I didn't want to bring shame to my family!" Miracle replied vehemently. She did not accept what the man, now officially her husband, had said. Mateo De Luca, the man in front of Miracle, was her twin sister's future husband. The man who had been matched with her twin sister. Miracle had to accept the bad luck in her life. She had come to Milan to attend her twin sister's wedding, but she was faced with the reality of her twin sister running away at the wedding. She had no other choice; only she could save her family's good name. Miracle had never known Mateo. The only news she had heard was that her twin sister was in a relationship with a powerful businessman from Milan. The rest of the time, she didn't know Mateo very well. Having lived in Rome for so long, Miracle never knew anything about her family's plans, including setting Mateo up with his twin sister. Mateo smiled sarcastically. "You may say you're replacing your twin sister, but you really want this marriage. You could have run away and refused. But you accepted it instead. So don't make excuses like I'm stupid. Save your tears, I can't be fooled," he replied sharply and piercingly. Miracle almost laughed at Mateo's words. Indeed, she had never met such a confident man. She felt like beating him up for putting her down. "Did I hear you wrong? You should have prevented all of this! I was only helping to save my family's good name. If you were against this marriage, then this would never have happened. You could have argued that you couldn't possibly marry a woman you never knew before! Ah, or were you the one who wanted this marriage?" Miracle turned Mateo's words around. She couldn't accept being accused of wanting this marriage. Meanwhile, she was caught in a complicated situation. The person who could stop this marriage was Mateo. However, Mateo still chose to continue this marriage. She didn't understand why Mateo would follow his family's wishes and not fight back. From the beginning, Miracle was confused as to why, during the wedding process, Mateo seemed so calm and unconcerned. Mateo should have rebelled. If Mateo had disregarded this, then he would have survived this marriage. Mateo let out a rough breath. He stepped closer to Miracle. For a moment, his brown irises met Miracle's blue ones. They stared coldly at each other. "Don't be too confident! Women like you are not my type!" Miracle's eyes narrowed angrily at Mateo's words. She instantly raised her face, glaring at Mateo sharply. "You think you're my type? You're the one who shouldn't be so confident!" Mateo shrugged his shoulders indifferently. "Arguing with you is a waste of my time. You'd better shut up and leave me alone!" he replied coldly. Without another word, Mateo turned around, about to walk away from Miracle. But Miracle swiftly ran after Mateo quickly. "Wait, you haven't answered my question yet." Miracle touched Mateo's arm. Mateo glanced at Miracle sharply. He immediately took his hand from Miracle and said coldly, "What answer haven't I given?" "Why didn't you prevent this marriage? You could have prevented it because you should have married my twin sister instead of me from the beginning!" Miracle looked at Mateo intently. Her gaze probed, searching for the truth in the man's brown irises. Mateo let out a harsh breath. "You told me, taking your twin sister's place for saving your family. Then your answer and mine are the same. I have no choice. You made the decision, so you bear what you've decided." "You'd better change your dress. Do you want to sleep in a wedding dress?" said Mateo with a cold stare at the wedding dress attached to Miracle's body. Miracle looked at her own body. Sure enough, her body was still wrapped in the wedding dress. Now Miracle said no more; she stomped her feet to get into the bathroom. But suddenly, Miracle's wedding dress caught on the table, causing Miracle's body to fall on the floor. "A*..." Miracle let out a scream. The stack of files on the table immediately fell. Meanwhile, Mateo just chuckled at how careless the woman was. He immediately stepped closer to Miracle. "That hurts..." Miracle complained as she touched her elbow, a frown on her face. She cursed to herself. In the next second, when Miracle was about to leave, Miracle's gaze was accidentally drawn to a brown folder with a marriage agreement written on it. Miracle's brow furrowed, and she immediately picked up the document so close to her. "Mateo, what is this agreement?" asked Miracle as she stared at the file.
