Chapter 5 A Question

"Well, I've asked your assistant to move your things back to Rome. So, you don't have to go back there," Mateo said casually and made Miracle's surprise. "You moved my stuff? What right do you have to move all my stuff in Rome without my consent?" Miracle's voice exclaimed, and her gaze sharpened. Her jaw tightened. Meanwhile, Mateo just chose to sit in his work chair, smoking his cigarette and ignoring Miracle's words. "Why should you be angry? What I did was the right thing. I helped you move your things to Milan. Besides, it wasn't entirely my wish. But your father told me to have my people move your things immediately. So, it's not a big deal," Mateo exhaled cigarette smoke. Then, he picked up the bottle of wine in front of him, poured it into the sloki glass in his hand, and took a slow sip. Miracle growled. Her gaze sharpened on Mateo, who looked so relaxed and innocent. She continued to swear harshly in her heart. She had guessed that her father must have asked Mateo to move his things. Although she had expected this to happen, Miracle hadn't expected it to be this fast. Unfortunately, this time, Miracle was not fast enough. She would have calmed her mind a bit if she had returned to Rome. Getting married was something Miracle had never expected in her life. Not that she didn't want to, but she didn't expect to get married so soon. That's why she was eager to put her mind at ease. But if it was like this, what could she do? Now, Miracle caught her breath; she tried to calm the anger within her. It was useless if she was angry because everything had already happened. "Mateo, you really are an annoying guy! What's been written in the media about you is just bullshit! You're the most annoying guy I've ever met! I hate you!" Miracle let out what was in her heart. Then she got off the desk, grabbed her bag, and was about to leave Mateo's office. "So you've been watching me through the media?" Mateo had a faint smile on his lips when he heard Miracle's words. His gaze looked at Miracle intimidatingly. "Or perhaps you replaced your twin sister because you wanted to marry me?" he said implicitly sarcastically. Mateo's words brought Miracle's steps to a halt. She immediately turned around, staring at Mateo with a cold gaze. "I just accidentally saw the news about you! You're so confident!" she replied sternly. "Confident?" Mateo got up from his seat and stepped closer to Miracle, who still had not moved from her spot. "If you didn't like me then you wouldn't have bothered to look at the news. But you seem to be paying attention to the news about me. It could be that you replaced your twin sister because you wanted to," he said with a smirk. Miracle snorted in displeasure. She cursed inwardly. This man before him was so confident. Miracle swore this man in front of him was the most annoying man in his life. Now she caught her breath and raised her face as she said sharply, "Who do you think you are that I should like you? You're so confident! Listen to me carefully, Mateo De Luca. I've never liked you! Not even a little bit, ever! One more thing, I replaced Selena to save my family name. Never mind, I'm going home. Whatever you want to say. I don't care!" Without another word, Miracle walked straight out of Mateo's office. Miracle's face was still so upset. Since the beginning, Miracle has never had any feelings for Mateo. She had only seen Mateo on the news, which was accidental. If this weren't the office, Miracle would have kicked Mateo. Unfortunately, Miracle did not want to make a scene in the man's company. Mateo smirked at the sight of Miracle's back, which had begun to disappear from his view. Even he continued to shadow Miracle's annoyed face. Right after Miracle left, Mateo sat back in his work chair and leaned back. He only teased Miracle because she had read the news about him. But the woman's response was to get angry at him. Well, Mateo didn't care. For Mateo, married or not, it made no difference in his life. A knock on the door was heard; Mateo exhaled harshly when someone disturbed him. Although annoyed that someone was bothering him, he still interrupted to enter. "Mr. Mateo," Gustav greeted, Mateo's assistant bowing his head as he arrived before Mateo. "What brings you here?" Mateo asked coldly. He could be seen staring intently at Gustav, who stood before him. "Sir, are you going to visit Miss Heera today?" Gustav asked cautiously. Mateo was silent when he heard Gustav's question. Instantly, his face changed. His irises seemed to be filled with longing along with a deep sadness. Mateo's gaze turned blank and dreamy. "I haven't visited Heera in a long time. Ever since I took care of my wedding, I forgot about Heera. She must now be angry and resentful of me for ignoring her." Mateo paused; he let out a rough breath as he continued, "If only Miracle had not taken her twin sister's place, I would not have to be stuck in this marriage." "Sir, but I think Mrs. Miracle is the right woman for you. I heard she was so independent in Rome. Mrs. Miracle was able to establish her own company without her father's help. Not only that, but Mrs. Miracle has great achievements in education. With all that Mrs. Miracle has, she is a very worthy woman to be with you, sir," Gustav opined. "I never cared about Miracle. Anything about her would not interest me in the slightest," Mateo said coldly with a flat face. He seemed reluctant to talk about Miracle. "Sir, but Mrs. Miracle is your wife after all. Don't you want to learn to love Mrs. Miracle?" Gustav asked cautiously. "I could not possibly love another woman," Mateo replied in a cold and sharp voice. "There will only ever be one woman I love. And you know that very well, Gustav. You'd better go and stop talking about Miracle. It would help if you didn't go back to talking about her. Miracle and I married only out of necessity. Although she is my wife, she has no rights whatsoever," he continued to assert. "I'm sorry, sir." Gustav bowed his head, excusing himself from Mateo's presence. Mateo leaned back in his chair as he closed his tired eyes. He had never cared about anything concerning Miracle. Until then, Mateo's gaze was drawn to a drawer in his desk that was not closed tightly. He opened the drawer. A faint smile was instantly etched on his lips at seeing the picture frame inside the drawer. He picked up the picture frame and kissed the picture in the frame. His gaze and heart turned so soft as he looked at the woman in the picture frame.
