Chapter 9 A Visit
"You punk, this is all your fault! I’m going to kill you!" Jaycob, crazed with rage, grabbed a baton from a security guard and swung it at Xaiden's head.
Snap!
Before the baton could make contact, there was a sickening snap as Xaiden effortlessly broke Jaycob's wrist!
"Aaaahhhh!" Jaycob's scream echoed through the lobby as he fell to the ground, clutching his shattered wrist. Xaiden's skill was not something a man like him could challenge.
"This is just a warning. If you dare act up again, I won't hesitate to turn you into a corpse!" Xaiden warned.
Jaycob's screams stopped abruptly, and he fled with Chelsea in tow, their tails between their legs.
In the chairman's office of VitaNova Pharmaceuticals headquarters, as soon as Melody took a seat, Thane personally brewed a cup of premium Darjeeling tea for her. "Miss Torris, please enjoy the tea," he said softly, placing the cup in front of her.
"T-this is so kind of you!" Melody quickly stood up to thank him, startled by his hospitality.
"Miss Torris, no need to be so formal. Just make yourself at home. You mentioned discussing a partnership with my company? It would be our greatest honor to collaborate with you. How about a 300-million contract? If that's not enough, we can increase it to 1 billion," Thane said warmly, sitting across from Melody.
"What…" Melody was so stunned by his words that she stood up again in shock.
"If that's still not enough, we can add another 500 million."
"No, that's more than enough! Just 100 million is sufficient!" Melody was flabbergasted. Is this a business negotiation, or is he begging me to take the contract?
She couldn't fathom why securing a deal with VitaNova Pharmaceuticals, which others could only dream of, was being offered to her so easily and generously. 1.5 billion? What does that even mean?
Torris Corporation's annual revenue was only about 20 million, with a net profit of three to four million. Taking on a 100-million contract would already stretch them to the limit; handling 1.5 billion was unimaginable.
"Alright, we'll do as you wish, Miss Torris!" Thane said before making a quick phone call.
Moments later, a beautiful secretary entered with the contract, and the two swiftly signed it.
Thane personally escorted Melody downstairs and handed her a business card. "Miss Torris, here's my card. Feel free to call me if you have any questions."
Throughout the entire meeting, Thane didn't mention anything about Xaiden. He knew Xaiden preferred to keep his identity hidden, especially from his wife Melody. If it weren't for Xaiden's wishes, those two who had mistreated her earlier would have been dealt with harshly.
"Xaiden, am I dreaming? I can't believe we secured a contract with VitaNova Pharmaceuticals so easily. It's unreal!" Melody exclaimed with delight as they left.
"Well, it's because my wife's so charming! You're a magnet for good fortune, and Mr. Everett couldn't resist signing," Xaiden replied with a chuckle.
"Oh, come on. It felt more like he was trying to curry favor with me. He even offered a 1.5-billion contract! I was so shocked! Tell me, Xaiden, do you know him?" Melody asked, eyeing him suspiciously.
"Me? No way! I just got out of prison. How could I possibly know someone that important?" he replied with a laugh.
"If it's not you, then who? And there's something else I've been meaning to ask: what's the deal with Yuniza Estate? I looked into it, and it's the most luxurious villa in Josenz, worth over 5 billion. Don't tell me you're a secret rich kid!" Melody pressed.
"Well… actually, Yuniza Estate belongs to a friend of mine. We met in prison. He's still inside, so I'm just staying there for the time being until he gets out," Xaiden lied.
"Really?"
"Of course! How could someone as broke as me afford a place like that? Oh, I get it. You heard it's not mine and now you don't want to be with me anymore. I didn't expect you to be that kind of woman," Xaiden teased, pretending to be upset.
"Oh, please, I knew Yuniza Estate wasn't yours from the start. Otherwise, you wouldn't have become a live-in son-in-law of my family! But you healed my eyes and my face, giving me a new lease on life. No matter who you are or how much money you have, I'll always want you. If you ever run out of money, just come to me. I've got you covered," Melody said, raising an eyebrow and smiling.
"Then give me some money. I want to buy a blowup doll."
"Get lost, or I'll smack you!"
…
The two rode their beloved electric scooter and quickly arrived at Torris Residence.
Inside Torris Residence, a young man sat comfortably, surrounded by the Torris Family members who treated him like a celebrity, showering him with attention and flattery.
The young man was none other than Alexander Watson, the eldest grandson of the Watson Family. He was the son of Arlo Watson, Harrison's eldest son.
Yesterday, Harrison had died, throwing the Watson Family into chaos. But for Alexander, a man who indulged in the pleasures of life, Harrison's death was long overdue. The old man had controlled the family with an iron grip, even restricting Alexander's monthly allowance. Now, with Harrison gone and Arlo stepping in as the new head of the family, Alexander couldn't be happier. His father at the helm meant his own life would improve significantly.
Today, he had taken 30 million from the financial division of Sanctum Enterprise, the Watson Family business.
By chance, he ran into Talon, the Torris Family's eldest grandson. The two were like birds of a feather. Upon hearing that Melody, the so-called ugly duckling of the Torris Family, had regained her sight and her beauty had been restored, Alexander couldn't resist his desires. He immediately followed Talon to Torris Residence, eager to savor her.
"Grandma, I had to beg and plead with Mr. Watson before he agreed to come and take a look at Melody. Hurry and bring her out so he can kick Xaiden out and she can marry into the Watson Family! Then, our family can bask in glory!" Talon urged his grandmother Jennifer.
