Chapter 69 Are You A Warrior?

With her imagination, Ashina tried to see her father's final moments just as commander Rafe had described. What she saw made her eyes brim with tears. Her father was a fearsome werewolf, the mightiest in Arthenis back then. He and his berserkers had raised a small Arthenish village, and he alone had gone to protect his omegas. The average berserker was on the level of a delta werewolf, so dealing with a few would have been child's play for the Alpha. However, he had to fight dozens of the wolf-bloodthirsty creatures, including the ones whose strength rivaled that of beta wolves. After being totally exhausted, one of the surviving berserkers saw an opening and finished the Alpha off by stabbing his heart. Imagining that part, the tears rolled down Ashina's cheeks. Her father died a painful death, but she knew it wasn't one he regretted as he had kept the berserkers busy, giving his omegas time to evacuate the village. Ashina sniffed and covered her face with both palms. The commander shed a few tears too. “We had to flee because the Scytans had totally worn us off. If we faced the remaining berserkers in our state, we would have all died. However, I live each day with regret and guilt. Your father had already been wasted. The least we could have done was slay that berserker who slayed our Alpha. I mean, it didn't look possible, but I wish I had attempted it. “With how miserable I feel now, if I could go back in time, I'd gladly give my life away back there...” the Commander said sullenly, wiping his tears off with his fingers.
