Chapter 42 Awake

Ashina's eyes fluttered open. For a moment, she had no clue what she was as it felt like she had woken up from a thousand-year sleep. She rubbed her eyes several times in hopes of having something get into her view, but it was all to no avail. With her eyes closed and opened, all she could see was darkness. The fear of the unknown began to creep into her and she explored her environment with her touch. Her hands moved around the surface where she lay, and she made out that it was a very cozy one. It felt like a bed dressed in thick fur. The comfort of this surface still didn't put her mind at ease. She still had no idea where she was or what she was doing. Her hands kept exploring, and then they came to a halt when she felt something. With her brows furrowed, she placed the side of her head on the surface to uncover more of her ear. She could now hear a soft, repeated pounding beneath the cozy surface. She now canceled her guess of her being on a bed, as a bed could not have had a... a heart! Her heart skipped a beat at the realization of this.
