Chapter 7 How Is This Possible?
Before long, the screams of Vere and Norma echoed from outside the hospital room.
Darius couldn't care less about their fate; his focus was solely on his daughter.
He gently lifted the thin blanket, revealing the dire condition of Carrie.
Norma was desperate for a dramatic effect during her livestream. She had cruelly pressed on Carrie's body to force out expressions of pain.
Blood now soaked the bandages on Carrie's legs. The previously realigned bones had dislocated once more.
Besides her legs, several other areas of her body were bleeding through the bandages. The indicators on the monitoring device showed increasingly unstable readings.
Darius tenderly caressed his daughter's face, nearly moving to tears at the sight. He asked, "Cari, does it hurt a lot?"
Carrie suppressed the pain and gave her young face a determined look.
"It doesn't hurt, Daddy. Cari isn't in pain. Don't cry, okay? Daddy, you should be strong, and strong men don't cry."
Carrie's comforting words hit Darius like a tidal wave. He couldn't hold back his tears any longer, and they flowed freely from his eyes.
The little girl was only five, yet her maturity was both heartwarming and heartbreaking.
"Don't worry, Cari. Daddy's going to treat you now. I promise I'll make you better."
He couldn't use his golden energy to directly heal her, but he could channel it through needle therapy to achieve a similar effect.
Outside the hospital ward, Ash had already knocked Vere and Norma unconscious.
She watched with interest as Darius brought out a box of needles.
Darius quickly entered a focused state. The pentagram formation unfolded. One by one, he inserted silver needles into the pressure points on Carrie's body and legs.
Ash thought, This guy must be crazy. His daughter's whole body is wrapped in thick bandages. How could he possibly pinpoint the pressure points?
Ash had previously witnessed alternative medical practitioners apply needles, but they always required the patient to expose their skin. To her, Darius's actions seemed utterly foolish.
When Darius inserted the last needle, Ash's eyes widened in disbelief.
"How is this possible?
"Her monitoring data was so unstable just moments ago. How did it suddenly stabilise?
"If this guy truly has such skills, I'm taking him home no matter what!"
Carrie's vital signs were severely abnormal due to internal injuries from the car accident. Carrie's vital signs had been severely abnormal.
After she received Darius's treatment, the readings quickly returned to normal.
Ash tried to convince herself it wasn't real, but the data didn't lie.
And she saw the pain in Carrie's eyes gradually fading, replaced by a glimmer of hope.
Darius didn't stop there. He continuously manipulated each silver needle, transferring the limited golden energy he had left into Carrie's body.
Gradually, his physical strength waned, his golden energy depleted, and his body started to wobble.
"Daddy, it doesn't hurt anymore. Please rest, okay?"
Cari's tender voice brought Darius back from the brink of collapse.
He grasped her wrist, and new diagnostic information appeared in his mind.
'Diagnosis: Crushed fractures in both legs (partially healed), kidney rupture (partially healed), 54 percent of facial skin burned (not healed).'
'Cause: external impact, secondary compression, and severe burns.'
Carrie's vital signs were back to baseline, and the misaligned bones had been corrected.
Darius nodded in satisfaction and began to remove the needles.
As he removed the last needle, two doctors and five nurses burst into the room.
Ash immediately grabbed them and started shouting.
"Finally! He's been treating the patient recklessly. Arrest him now!"
The doctor leading the charge, Larry Black's face, was twisted in anger. He roared, "Who gave you the right to touch the patient? Move aside!"
"Idi*t! How dare you touch her? Do you know that you're harming her? She could end up crippled for life because of you!"
The doctors took turns berating Darius, who was too weak to fight back.
Ash smirked. She was pleased with her success and shouted, "Great job, doctors! Make sure you investigate him thoroughly. Don't let him harm this little girl any further!"
Darius was furious. If he had the strength, he would've smacked this troublemaking woman.
One of the nurses who was monitoring the data suddenly exclaimed, "Dr. Black, look at these readings! There is something off with the data!"
Larry rushed to the monitors and examined them with astonishment.
"How could this be?
"This is impossible. Something must be wrong.
"Hurry, take the patient to the examination room. I need to run a full check-up."
The team quickly wheeled Carrie to the examination room. When the results came back, Larry and his team grinned from ear to ear.
"This is insane! The world must have gone mad!
"The metal rods and plates in her body have shifted compared to post-surgery.
"But her bone fragments are more precisely aligned than any surgical operation could achieve.
"Her damaged internal organs have almost completely healed, a process that would normally take at least seven days.
"And it happened in just a few hours. This is unbelievable."
As they marvelled at the results, Kevin rushed in.
"Larry, are you talking about the girl in Room 1? Did she recover astonishingly quickly after her father treated her?"
Kevin and Larry were the hospital's chief physicians and surgical department stars. They were on favourable terms.
Larry was startled by Kevin's question. He asked, "What's the matter? Did you know him?"
Kevin stomped his foot in frustration. He repeated, "I told you earlier, remember? The man in Room 2, who was on the brink of death, recovered on his own."
"D*mn, it's him!" Larry cursed. "Let's go. We need to see him immediately."
Ash listened to their conversation from the doorway, smirking as she returned to the room.
"Your daughter is fine. The doctors confirmed that there's nothing wrong.
"But I'm curious, why didn't you heal her face first? If you wait too long, the scars could be permanent."
Darius was relieved to hear that Carrie was out of danger.
This was his first time saving someone since inheriting the legacy, and he was genuinely worried.
He smiled bitterly and said, "I can heal her, but I can't afford the medical fees.
"Healing her face would cost around 1.5 million. I'm still trying to gather the money."
Ash's interest was piqued. She asked, "You need money? I can give you that. All I ask is for one condition. Agree, and I'll transfer one and a half million dollars to your account immediately."
