Chapter 68
Wiping the wetness from my lips, I winced at the pain and fuzziness that clouded my head when I spoke. "What happened?" My voice was croaky, but the water helped take away the dryness in my throat. Not everything from last night was missing from my memory, but I wasn't sure who the 'he' was that Dera had referred to and before I said something I'd regret I wanted to know if they were talking about Adan.
Dera sat on the edge of my bed, her eyes softening as she looked over me. "I don't know," She shrugged, "Jude said he left you to get some water and when he got back you were gone." Her hand reached out and took hold of mind. "We looked everywhere, but no one could find you, you just disappeared." Squeezing my hand, she wiped the tear that fell from the corner of her eye. "We thought- Oh Carlie, you scared the crap out of us." Wrapping her arms around me she pulled my body against her own so that I could barely breathe.
