Instantly I stood protectively in front of her, my eyes burning holes in Cole. "Back the hell off." I raged. The threat in my words didn't go unnoticed by him. My whole body began to shake and I knew my wolf was seconds from breaking out. I didn't know what to do. He had never been able to control me before and I had no idea what he would do to Rain. After all he didn't see the small, delicate girl that I saw standing in front of me, all he seen was his mate, her wolf and he wanted her. The slightest touch from her hand on my shoulder had me breathing out in a sudden calmness that came over my body. It wouldn't last long, but my wolf appreciated being touched by her. She knew she could calm us down, she'd done it before, and it meant something to him for her to do it again. "Just go, I'll deal with this." Cole sent her a small smile which had me growling and took off in the opposite direction.
