Chapter 34 Thirty Four

Shawn found it hard to sleep; both the barbarians' appearance and Alicia’s untold problem were taking a toll on him. He didn’t know which one to consider a problem at the moment: figuring out the barbarians' main purpose or forcing Alicia to tell him what was going on in her pack. He would have loved to send Theo to investigate, as he was the only person he trusted the most. However, this was a crucial time- he couldn’t have Theo leave the border, especially not when he would be going to the palace soon too. It would be fatal if both of them were absent, and no matter how much he wanted to find out about Alicia, he couldn’t take such a risk. He sighed and wiped his fingers on his face; the only option would be to get her to tell him herself. But how can he do that? Even though he had left an opening offer of breaking the rules for her, she didn’t trust him enough to say, and he couldn’t understand why she was hiding it. If he eventually takes her to the king, he would be present when she speaks to him, so won’t he still find out? Why was she concealing it then?
