Chapter 23 Twenty Three

Everyone fears the king, but those who know the council and the inner workings of the royal court know that the right person to fear is the Shadow Lord. Younger brother to the king and was named a lord, no one knows him, he hardly visits packs or attends social events, including the ones hosted by the king, but whenever there was a fight in the Northern region, he was there. His very presence was the reason the barbarians have not attacked the Northern region again since their first attack twenty-eight years ago when he was just seven years old. He was allocated a pack twenty years ago but one can’t even call that a pack but military. To join his pack, one had to write an application letter and strength was the number one criterion to climb up in ranks. He named his pack, Shadow pack, and his members are addressed as Shadow soldiers. Although only formed twenty years ago, they easily became the leading pack in the whole world. Those who have visited the pack had confirmed that it looked nothing like a pack but a training ground, the soldiers sleep in hostels, using bunk beds, and the Lord, although he has a castle, hardly sleeps in it. There are no omegas in the pack, the junior soldiers serve the seniors and one doesn’t need years to climb up the ranks. If one can defeat any of the high-ranking officials, they automatically take their place. Strength is power in the pack and the members are alphas sons and daughters, betas, and gammas from other packs. Tom had wanted to join but was waiting till he got his wolf and even with Micah being friends with the Lord, it wasn’t a sure deal that he would be accepted, his strength was his only ticket.
