Chapter 7 Seven

The news of the former Luna of Blood Stone pack’s death spread within two days, shocking everyone. With the Eastern region already at war, not much people could attend the funeral. Not that Alicia cared though. The death of her mother had come as a big shock to her that it still felt like a dream. During the first time her mother attempted suicide, she had been so scared, thinking she had lost her and was all alone and when she talked to her mother when she got better, Sabrina had promised her that it won’t repeat itself and that she would never abandon her. However, when she attempted it again just two months after the first, the feeling that the third time would be too late had already started growing in Alicia’s heart, hence why she took the extra measures of being the one to look after her at night and have someone take care of her in the day when she would be busy with the pack duties. Alicia stood in front of her mother’s tomb, she was buried right beside her father and brothers. Staring at Sabrina’s smiling picture on the tomb, Alicia felt like laughing, since the night of tragedy two years ago, her mother was never truly happy again. But would she blame her? Of course not, which woman would be happy after losing her husband and three sons in one night? However, she had thought her mother would have been strong for her sake, like, she would have tried to stay for her. After all, she did everything she wanted, she stayed in the pack like she wanted, got married like she wanted, trying her possible best to look happy just to get her to relax and yet, she left her, she abandoned her. Why? Isn’t she worth staying alive for? Couldn’t her mother love her enough to? Why abandon her, why leave her all alone? Now, she has no one, no family member, no brother, no father, no mother and even her husband haven’t sent her a letter despite having heard of her mother’s death. Like, how busy can he be that he couldn’t even take out a moment to write her a consoling later? Alicia wiped away her tears, no, no it’s not the time to be condemning, her mother wouldn’t like that. Her mother chose Leo for her, so obviously he wouldn’t be that bad. How sure is she that he is even okay? How can he have the time to be writing a letter when he is constantly watching his back and trying his best to stay alive? He is busy, and that’s it. She is sure he would send her a letter when he has the time. Definitely. “Alicia,” Mary called and Alicia wiped away her tears before turning to her. Mary reached forward and hugged her, “oh my dear, I’m so sorry.” Alicia nodded with a faint smile, “thank you.” “I just want you to know that you have me, I will be your mother from now on, okay? When Leo lost his father in the war, your parents looked after us so much that we didn’t really feel his presence, now, allow me to look after their daughter, okay?” Alicia nodded. More people started coming to Alicia to offer their condolences, and when the burial was over, they all went to the packhouse for refreshment but Alicia didn’t join them, she went back home to her mother’s room and cried. *** A week later, Alicia was lazing around at home. After burying herself in work the previous week to cope with her mother’s death, she decided to stay home today and relax. Alicia walked out of the kitchen with a plate of sandwich, with her mother gone, she didn’t need the omegas anymore and sent them away to serve those who needed them more. She settled on the couch, ready to eat her lunch when she heard the doorbell. Placing the plate on the coffee table, she got up to check who it was as she was not expecting a visitor. Opening the door, Alicia was surprised to find Mary and Joy, and not just that, three omegas were with them, carrying some luggage. Alicia frowned but still offered time a smile, “Mary, is everything okay?” “Alicia, yes, everything is fine. Have you spoken to Leo?” Mary asked. Alicia shook her head. She was still to receive a letter from her husband, even though she tried not to be affected by it. “Did he say something?” “Actually,” Joy spoke up and brought out a piece of paper from her jean's back pocket. “This came from him last night, he said he will send you one today. Have you not received it?” Alicia felt a sharp pain in her chest that Leo found some time to send a letter to his family but not to her, his wife, who just lost her mom. She waved off the feeling and smiled before taking the paper from Joy. Opening it, the letter was short with just a single order. ‘Mom, with the death of Luna Sabrina, I’m sure Alicia would be lonely at home, I don’t know when I will be done with the fight here and since that is the Alpha’s house, that is where I will be staying. Why don’t you and Joy go ahead and stay with her? Keep her company until I get back home. I will send her a letter soon to let her know of your moving in. Love, Leo.’ Alicia read the letter over and over again. The letter was simple, and the instruction was easy to comprehend as well, but for some reason, it didn’t sit well with her. Leo was right, as the house was the Alpha’s house, when he comes home, he would be moving in, but having his mom and sister move in too? That was preposterous! “Dear, Leo only has your best interest at heart. You see, having lost every member of your family here, it would be hard to stay alone.” Mary said with a sad look. Alicia stared at her, indeed it is hard but I am doing just fine, alone. She wanted to reject them and send them back to their house. How can Leo do that, if he wanted to do something so drastic, shouldn’t he have consulted with her first? Why send a letter to his family and give them the instruction before saying he will tell her about it? She could feel Nala bursting in anger but she tried to calm her down and reason it, as the family of the alpha, it’s not entirely wrong for them to live in his house but the way he went about it was so damn wrong. Sucking in a deep breath to calm herself, she flashed them a faint smile before stepping aside to let them in. She saw the mother and daughter exchange looks of happiness and right there, she felt that strong feeling that perhaps she had done something bad.
