Chapter 16 Sixteen

Alicia opened her eyes, the bright light coming in from the window made her squint and she sat up on the bed. As her eyes adjusted to the light, she was surprised to find herself alone in the room. She had carried Leo’s words to heart, believing that he would really be there when she woke up, but she guessed she couldn’t expect him to, after all, he had a fated now. She sighed and climbed out of the bed, reminding herself never to take the words of a cheating man to heart. But Leo isn’t cheating, her subconscious said, and in as much as it was true, the fact that he can openly go to another woman’s arms is the same as cheating in her dictionary, only that his cheating won’t be frowned upon when people hear about it. What a damned world she lives in. She intended to stay in her room all day, definitely not in the mood to see her so-called family, but the churning of her stomach reminded her that she didn’t have anything to eat all day yesterday. She had been so hyped up with her party that she couldn’t eat, believing that she would bury herself in the delicacies the chefs had made, but who would have expected what happened yesterday to happen?
