Chapter 17

I turn the doorknob and open the door carefully, not wanting to scare or make her feel uncomfortable. The room is small, but it's big enough for a teenager. The walls are light purple, like mine when I lived at my parents, to my right there is a bathroom. I take a quick glance and I can see that it's quite simple, a toilet, shower and a sink. I continue to walk slowly into the room until I'm standing at the end of the bed. The girl is sitting up against the wall with her hands in her lap, looking down. I move around the purple bed and sit down upon the covers. She glances at me and moves her legs up against her chest, wrapping her arms tightly around them.
