Chapter 5 The Ring Looks Beautiful
Whitney's heart skipped a beat in that moment.
What was she supposed to guess?
Although she felt speechless, she could only force a smile and said, "I suppose Mr. Morrison, being so outstanding, must already be married, right?"
After asking, she dared not look at Stefan.
But soon, she couldn't help but feel regretful.
What was she feeling guilty about? It was Stefan who had concealed his identity from her first. After entering the office, he pretended not to know her. What was there for her to feel guilty about?
While Whitney's thoughts were changing, Stefan, who was in the wheelchair across from her, noticed every subtle change in her facial expression.
Stefan couldn't help but slightly lift the corners of his mouth, revealing an imperceptible smile.
He had known long ago that she would be the one coming to interview him today. More precisely, it was because he knew that Helsa was her workplace that he made an exception and agreed to this interview.
She thought they were meeting for the first time today, but in fact, three days ago, he had already encountered her while she was on a blind date.
He was certain that he had never seen her before, yet he always felt a sense of familiarity. That was why he had someone investigate her.
Then, this morning, he coincidentally witnessed her being insulted at the entrance of the city hall.
Recalling her information, Stefan took the initiative to approach her and proposed marriage.
The question he just asked was meant to tease her, but he didn't expect her reaction to be so nervous. This shy appearance was quite different from the information he had gathered about her past.
Stefan's thoughts shifted slightly, and he calmly replied, "Yes, I'm already married. It happened just these past few days."
When Stefan mentioned "these past few days," he slightly elongated his tone and glanced at Whitney with a seemingly ambiguous look, causing her heart to inexplicably race.
Before Whitney could respond, Stella beside her exclaimed, "Ah!"
"Mr. Morrison, you're already married? This news will break the hearts of countless female readers." Stella mournfully spoke, unable to resist her curiosity as she asked, "I wonder what kind of person Mr. Morrison's wife is. Is she a young lady from a prestigious family?"
"Stella!" Whitney quickly pulled Stella back. This was not a question they had agreed upon for the interview, and it was too personal, almost impolite.
Fortunately, Stefan didn't get angry. He simply smiled faintly but didn't answer Stella's question.
"Alright. We've already asked enough about Mr. Morrison's personal life. Let's move on to some work-related questions." Whitney didn't want to dwell too much on the topic of marriage and quickly shifted the focus of the interview.
The following questions were all standard, and the interview finally ended in a safe and steady rhythm.
"I'm glad to have the opportunity to be interviewed by your prestigious magazine," said Stefan politely as he bid farewell, shaking hands with them. However, when he shook hands with Whitney, he seemed to pause for a moment longer, his dark pupils slightly drooping as his gaze fell upon the ring on her finger. His thin lips curled slightly, and he remarked, "A very beautiful ring."
Whitney immediately felt her cheeks flush and quickly withdrew her paw.
As they walked out of Stefan's office, Whitney's tense nerves finally relaxed.
Stella exclaimed dramatically beside her, "Oh my goodness! I shook hands with the CEO of Sirius Group. I'm not going to wash my hands for the entire week."
Whitney looked at her with a wry smile, about to tell her to snap out of it, when suddenly Stefan's secretary approached them, holding several beautifully packaged boxes.
"For the journalists from Helsa Magazine, these are small gifts prepared by our CEO. Please accept them."
Taking the exquisitely wrapped boxes, Stella became even more excited. "Oh my, there are gifts too? Mr. Morrison is so thoughtful."
She couldn't contain her excitement and eagerly opened the box, revealing a Chanel scarf inside.
"Wow, the CEO of such a prestigious company is truly generous!" Stella exclaimed with enthusiasm. "Each of us has a unique design. Whitney, let me see what design yours is."
Initially hesitant, Whitney reluctantly opened the box at Stella's persistent request. However, as soon as she caught a glimpse of its contents, her expression abruptly changed. She promptly closed the box.
