Chapter 2 Is This How We Get Married?
An hour later, Whitney walked out of the city hall with a slim marriage certificate in her paw, feeling as if she were floating, as if it were all a dream.
She never expected to suddenly marry a man, especially someone she had just met.
Whitney looked down at the marriage certificate, and at the bottom were their names.
It was absurd as she only discovered her new husband's name—Stefan Morrison—from the marriage certificate.
A simple yet elegant name, perfectly matching the man's demeanor.
"Whitney Walker?"
Stefan also looked at the marriage certificate, slowly pronouncing Whitney's name with a deep and hoarse voice, like a feather gently brushing against Whitney's heart, tickling her.
While Whitney was still in a daze, a paw with distinct knuckles suddenly appeared in front of her, holding a card between its fingertips.
"Miss Walker, I know that girls usually look forward to beautiful wedding dresses and rings, but I'm sorry, I don't have time to deal with those. If you like rings, you can choose a style yourself."
Whitney looked up and met the man's deep, bottomless eyes, like obsidian.
"It's okay. I don't care about those things." Whitney quickly waved her paw.
She had long passed the age of pursuing romance. Furthermore, Stefan was her nominal husband. The fact that Stefan married her had already done her a great favor, and she didn't want to owe him too much in other aspects.
"A ring is still necessary," Stefan said lightly, suddenly reaching out and grabbing Whitney's wrist, placing the credit card in her palm.
In that moment of skin contact, the man's slightly higher temperature seeped through her skin, causing Whitney to feel a little dazed.
"Alright." After all, they had just registered their marriage. Whitney didn't want to brush off his goodwill over such a small matter, so she reluctantly accepted the credit card.
"I have a meeting this afternoon, so I won't be able to see you off." Stefan's tone remained indifferent.
"Okay." Whitney hadn't expected him to treat her like a mate and shower her with affection, so she didn't feel any disappointment.
"By the way, about the address of my house." Stefan suddenly remembered something and spoke again, "I'll send it to you later. Whenever you're ready, just move in directly."
They had already exchanged phone numbers when they obtained their marriage certificate.
"There's no rush for that," Whitney quickly said nervously.
Although it was expected for them to live together after marriage, she wasn't really prepared to live under the same roof with a stranger.
Perhaps her refusal was too obvious in her tone, as Stefan glanced at her slightly, making Whitney feel a little embarrassed.
But Stefan didn't say much. He just pressed the button on his wheelchair to change directions. "If there's nothing else, I'll leave first."
"Okay."
After watching Stefan get into a black sedan, Whitney finally left.
Whitney worked at Helsa Magazine. When she arrived at the company, it was not yet time for the afternoon interview.
With this spare time, she took the credit card that Stefan had given her and went to the nearby mall to buy a pair of wedding rings.
After returning to the office, just as Whitney was about to review the materials for the afternoon interview, her colleague Stella Quinn, who was sitting on a swivel chair, slid over and asked with bright eyes, "Whitney, what's the deal with this ring?"
"You have sharp eyes." Whitney had no intention of hiding it, guessing that everyone would know about her marriage soon. "I got married."
"Oh, congratulations!" Stella's gaze fell back on her diamond ring. "Did your husband give you this ring? It doesn't seem very big. How much did it cost?"
"A little over a thousand dollars."
She was not clear about Stefan's financial situation, so she chose the cheapest and most ordinary style.
Stella's eyebrows furrowed even tighter.
"Whitney, this is not acceptable. The ring symbolizes marriage. How can you rely on a man who is unwilling to buy you a better ring? Even a werewolf who refuses to purchase a decent ring cannot be trusted," she said gravely.
"Just take whatever he can," Whitney replied casually, observing a hint of sympathy in Stella's eyes, possibly due to her husband's financial situation. "Alright, let's not dwell on this any longer. How are the preparations for the afternoon interview going?"
Whitney didn't want to continue discussing the matter.
"Of course, I'm fully prepared! Whitney, look at me. Do I look pretty today?" Whitney's words successfully diverted Stella's attention.
Upon hearing this, Whitney noticed that Stella was wearing a pink and white suit skirt today, and her hair was obviously well-groomed.
"You look absolutely stunning," Whitney generously complimented.
Stella instantly became even happier, her eyes sparkling. "Well, Whitney, do you think the CEO of Sirius Group will be interested in me?"
