The boardroom was silent, thick with unspoken tensions. Every executive sat in polished leather chairs, eyes sharp, expressions unreadable. The scent of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the faint metallic chill of power struggles. Genevieve Montgomery stood at the head of the long mahogany table, her spine straight, shoulders squared, a force to be reckoned with.
Her gaze swept the room, lingering for a half-second too long on Silas Rockwell. He sat in his usual place, dark eyes hooded, one hand resting lazily on the armrest. His suit, impeccably tailored, was charcoal gray today, crisp against the stark white of his shirt. Not a single emotion cracked through his stony mask.
