Chapter 7 A Mole
Five years ago, Danna had drugged Benjamin to get him to sleep with her, hoping to get pregnant with his child and eventually become Mrs. Graham.
However, things took an unexpected turn, and Arissa ended up being the one getting pregnant instead!
"Ms. Adams, it's getting late. You should head back and rest," Edwin, the villa's butler, said, interrupting her thoughts.
Danna glanced at Edwin and smiled. "Edwin, this is a gift I brought for Benjamin from overseas. It helps with sleep. I forgot to give it to him earlier. Could you pass it to him for me?"
She pulled a beautifully wrapped box from her bag and handed it to Edwin, along with another package. "This one is for you!" she said.
"It's not that expensive. Please take it; I won't be using it!" Danna insisted, pushing it into his hands before turning to get into the car.
She glanced at the villa.
She had expected Benjamin to ask her to stay the night since she was already there, but ... Well, there will be other opportunities in the future!
"Goodbye, Ms. Adams," Edwin said politely, then instructed the driver to drive slowly. After watching the car leave, he went back inside.
Benjamin carried Gavin upstairs and back to his bedroom, gently placing the little one on the bed.
"Mommy ... " the little one mumbled and turned over, his little feet swinging over the side of the bed.
Benjamin's gaze flickered. Just a moment ago, Gavin had seemed to hate Danna so much, yet now, in his sleep, he was calling for "Mommy."
He bent down to remove the boy's shoes, adjusted his position, and tucked him in. Then, he suddenly noticed a mole on the little one's wrist, and his eyes sharpened.
How had he never seen that mole before?
Benjamin grabbed the boy's hand and examined it closely. He wasn't sure if it had been there before, as he hadn't spent much time with his son and hadn't paid such close attention.
He gently placed the little one's hand back under the covers. He looked at Gavin's peaceful sleeping face, reached out to stroke his head, and then stood up and walked out.
Seeing Benjamin came out of Gavin's room, Edwin respectfully handed him something. "Mr. Graham, this is from Ms. Adams. She said it has a calming effect and helps with sleep!"
Benjamin's eyes briefly skimmed over it, showing no intention of accepting it. He shot Edwin a glance. "Don't accept gifts without asking me in the future!"
Edwin froze for a moment and immediately apologized. "Understood, Mr. Graham!"
Benjamin had seemed to have a good relationship with Danna previously. Yet after Gavin was born, things grew colder between them. No one knew the reason behind this change.
Edwin had thought that Benjamin would marry Danna, but five years had passed, and their relationship hadn't deepened. Instead, it had become more distant.
Edwin looked at Benjamin's cold demeanor and couldn't help but sigh inwardly, wondering who could win Benjamin's heart and make him smile.
Benjamin turned and headed back to his bedroom. Just before entering, he paused, turned slightly, and glanced at Edwin.
"Edwin, does Gavin have a mole on his wrist?"
"A mole?" Edwin paused for a moment, looking at him, somewhat confused. "I don't think so!"
He had been the one taking care of the little one and dressing him daily, but he hadn't noticed any mole.
Benjamin furrowed his brow. No mole? What about the mole he had seen just now?
Seeing Edwin's sincere gaze, Benjamin grew even more puzzled. He quickly went inside and checked the little one's wrist. Sure enough, there was a noticeable mole.
He rubbed it with his palm, and it didn't come off. Edwin frowned at the scene.
This mole didn't seem to be here before. Could it have appeared recently?
Since Benjamin wanted Gavin to develop independence, he hadn't allowed Edwin to dress the little one and had made him do it himself. It had been a while since the butler had gotten close to the boy.
Benjamin narrowed his eyes, a sense of worry creeping into his mind.
"Get the doctor here!"
The little one hadn't had a mole before, and with one appearing so suddenly, it wasn't a good sign.
"Yes!" Edwin quickly called Shaun Bailey, the Grahams' family doctor, to inform him to come to Yaleview immediately.
Shaun rushed over, thinking something serious had happened, only to find that they just wanted him to check the little one's mole. After an examination, he found nothing wrong.
"You are overreacting. Moles can develop later in life. Gavin is still young, and it's normal for him to get moles!"
"Do a blood test!" Benjamin didn't trust the half-hearted examination.
Shaun's sighed in frustration, but under Benjamin's pressure, he reluctantly took a blood sample from the little one's fingertip.
"Ah!" Jasper woke up in pain and saw someone pricking his finger. He glared and kicked out.
Shaun was caught off guard and sent flying by the kick. He stumbled and fell to the ground.
"Gavin, it's me ... "
"Why are you pricking my finger?!" Jasper clenched his small hand, furious, and yelled.
This person was truly awful, using a needle on him while he was sleeping!
Faced with the little one's anger, Shaun was left speechless. He got up and looked at Benjamin.
