Chapter 1 Mr Gavin Is Missing
“Mr. Gavin is missing!"
As a loud exclamation rang out, a group of bodyguards rushed around in panic at Dellmoor International Airport.
"Hurry up and find him! If Mr. Graham finds out Mr. Gavin is missing, we'll be skinned alive!"
The one missing was Benjamin Graham's only son, the heir to the powerful Graham Group!
The bodyguards quickly scattered, splitting into groups to search for him, hoping to find him before Benjamin returned.
The airport wasn't huge, but it wasn't small either, and with so many people, finding a child was no easy task.
After searching for a while, one of the bodyguards spotted a five-year-old boy holding cotton candy up ahead, and excitedly alerted the others.
"We found him. Mr. Gavin is buying cotton candy."
In less than a minute, they quickly surrounded the boy.
"Mr. Gavin, we've finally found you! You scared us to death! With so many people at the airport, it's dangerous for you to run around like that. Let's go back now. Mr. Graham will be out soon."
They didn't wait for the little boy to speak, nor did they notice anything unusual about him. One bodyguard took the cotton candy from his hand, while another quickly scooped him up and ran toward the other side.
The five-year-old Jasper felt completely confused.
What's happening now?'
"Hey, what are you doing? Let go of me, or I'll scream!“ he warned fiercely.
"Mr. Gavin, please stop joking. Your daddy will be very worried if he finds out you're missing!"
The bodyguards assumed the little one was just messing with them and gently reassured him. Then, they picked up the pace, heading toward the Rolls-Royce without hesitation.
Jasper's eyes widened in terror.
Am I being kidnapped now?
"Help ... mmm ... "
Jasper tried to wriggle out of the grasp of the man holding him. Just as he cried out for help, a bodyguard immediately covered his mouth tightly.
In a fit of anger, he bit down hard on the bodyguard's hand, but the man didn't loosen his grip and kept holding him.
"Mr. Gavin, don't be upset. I'll let go of you as soon as we're in the car."
The bodyguard winced in pain but didn't get angry. Instead, he tried to comfort him.
They were afraid to release him, worried that he might disappear again.
Gavin sometimes liked to play hide-and-seek with them, and they often couldn't find him.
"Mr. Gavin, it's too crowded here. If you want something, just tell us and we'll buy it for you. What if you bump into someone and get hurt?"
Other bodyguards also softly coaxed him.
Mr. Gavin?
Jasper froze for a moment.
He had heard that name many times from them, and had they just mentioned his daddy?
But he only had Mommy. He had no daddy!
He looked at the dozen or so well-trained bodyguards, noticing that apart from their concern, there wasn't an ounce of malice on their faces. His panicked heart quickly calmed down.
They looked like they were very familiar with him.
The little guy's eyes darted around.
Could they have mistaken him for someone else?
But he didn't know any of them!
Realizing that he wasn't in any immediate danger, Jasper quieted down, deciding to wait and see what would happen.
If he really had been kidnapped, he couldn't fight them off or escape now, as he was being restrained now.
On the opposite side of the airport, Arissa York came out of the restroom and walked directly toward her quadruplets who were patiently waiting.
Hmm? How come it's just Zachary and Jesse? Are Oliver and Jasper still in the restroom?
She immediately asked her eldest son, Zachary, "Is Oliver and Jasper still in the bathroom?"
"Mommy, Jasper went to the store across the street to buy cotton candy. Oliver is still inside!"
"Naughty Jasper! Didn't I tell you guys to wait for Mommy by the door after coming out of the men's bathroom?" Arissa muttered, but she wasn't really angry.
Because she knew Jasper couldn't get lost.
Jasper was the third of the quadruplets. Although he was only five years old, he had an incredible sense of direction. No matter how unfamiliar a place was, he could always find his way back.
So Arissa decided to wait for Oliver to come out of the bathroom.
But after a while, Oliver still hadn't come out.
"What's Oliver doing in there? Zachary, go check if he has diarrhea!" Given that they had just returned to the country, Arissa was a little worried that the sudden change of environment might have affected Oliver, making him struggle to adjust.
"Okay!" Zachary hurried inside to urge his little brother.
Arissa looked around but couldn't find the cotton candy stand. So she turned to her youngest son. "Jesse, where did Jasper go to buy cotton candy?"
"Mommy, it's over there! The one with the blue airplane!" The four-year-old pointed in a direction. His front tooth had fallen out, and his words came out with a slight whistle.
Arissa searched around and finally saw the place Jesse mentioned. Still, she couldn't spot her third son, Jasper.
The airport was crowded with patrons who are moving around, and it was hard for her to see clearly. She decided to wait for Oliver to come out of the restroom before looking for Jasper.
Shortly after, Zachary and Oliver came out of the bathroom. Arissa waited for a while but still didn't see Jasper returning, so she decided to head toward the cotton candy stand with the three boys, pulling their luggage as they walked.
When they got near the cotton candy stand, she still didn't see Jasper.
Arissa felt a wave of worry rise in her heart. After all, this place was still unfamiliar to the kids.
"Why is there no one around?"
"Do you think Jasper went to buy something else?" Zachary asked with a furrowed brow, clearly worried.
"We'll wait a bit longer!" She tried to reassure her children, and herself, hoping Jasper would return soon.
But as time passed, there was still no sign of Jasper.
Could it be that Jasper went back to the restroom to look for them?
