Chapter 50

I noticed one of the women studying me, one of the omegas as they began to pile food in front of our plates. She looked as though she was trembling, her body shaking slightly, her hands barely able to hold onto the plate before she slid it in front of me. As she did, our eyes met and I let out a small exhale, her eyes wide and pleading as though beseeching or rather trying to warn me away. I barely had time to acknowledge the look she gave me before she put her head back down and scurried away, like a timid mouse who didn’t’ want to anger its owners. That was strange. I made a mental note to try and find her later, although given the number of omegas I has spotted already, I feared the task would be difficult. “The food is delicious,” I lied.
