Chapter 11 Oran's Trial

The light from the altar swallowed Oran whole, plunging him into a suffocating void. When he opened his eyes, he was no longer in the forest. Instead, he stood in the middle of a vast battlefield, the air thick with the metallic tang of blood and the cries of the dying. He recognized this place immediately; it was the Plains of Jurok, where the last great rebellion of his tribe had been crushed. The sky above was a sickly gray, and the ground beneath him was littered with shattered weapons and bodies of his kin.
