Chapter 7 Threatening Lord of Gapdiff
People were buzzing with excitement, but there was clear confusion in the air.
Even though Daneo Bay Estate was a nice neighborhood, it wasn't exactly the kind of place they had expect someone like Levi Carter to show up. The folks here were rich, but not that level of rich.
For someone like Levi to show up here, it felt like he was almost slumming it.
Without a care for appearances, Levi jogged over to Alexei's side. He bowed slightly and said, "I'm Levi Carter. Nice to meet you, Dragon Healer!"
"Just call me by my name," Alexei replied, his tone calm.
"Mr. Walker, it's an honor to meet you. I always imagined you'd be older, but I didn't expect you to be so young!" Levi complimented, buttering him up.
"Yeah," Alexei responded flatly.
Everyone nearby sucked in a breath. In Lenoville, if anyone dared to speak to Levi like that, they'd be in serious trouble. But this young guy was doing it like it was no big deal.
And surprisingly, Levi didn't get mad. If anything, he seemed kind of impressed, like he respected Alexei's boldness.
"Mr. Walker, please, come with me. Let's talk in the car," Levi said, waving him toward the car.
Alexei didn't say much. He just grabbed his box and started heading toward the Lincoln stretch limousine.
Meanwhile, Hilda and Eric were trying to leave, but they were blocked by a group of guys in black suits.
"What's going on up there? Who's all this fuss about?" Hilda said as she rolled down the window.
"Don't know? The guy who just showed up is Levi Carter, head of the Carter family," someone nearby answered.
"The Carter family?" Hilda and Eric's faces instantly changed.
The Carter family was at the top of the food chain in Lenoville. Everyone knew who they were.
Levi wasn't just rich, he was a giant in the city, nicknamed "Mr. Moiety" because half of Lenoville probably belonged to him.
So, for him to show up at Daneo Bay Estate was a big deal.
"Are they here to welcome some big shot?" Eric asked, craning his neck to get a better look. Then, through a gap in the crowd, he saw a familiar face get into the limo.
Eric's face went pale. He pointed ahead like he had just seen a ghost and shouted, "Why him?"
"Who?" Hilda asked, clearly confused. By the time she looked over, the car door was already shut, so she couldn't make out who it was.
"Alexei," Eric said, his voice shaky.
"That loser?" Hilda reached out and patted his head. "Are you imagining things? No way a nobody like him would be in the Carter family's car."
"Did I really see that wrong?" Eric rubbed his eyes.
But then, after thinking about it, it kind of made sense. Alexei was just a stay-at-home cook. No way he was connected to the Carter family. It was laughable.
The luxury convoy rolled out of Daneo Bay Estate in style.
Inside the car, Levi was grinning. "Mr. Walker, I didn't expect you to be living in Daneo Bay Estate. You're tough to track down."
"I used to live here, but not anymore. It's all behind me now," Alexei said, his tone flat as he looked out the window.
"Oh?" Levi paused, trying to figure out what Alexei meant. Just then, his phone buzzed.
"Hello, Lord of Gapdiff, I've got Mr. Walker with me," Levi said, smiling as he answered the call.
"Levi, hurry up and hand him the phone!" the voice on the other end said excitedly.
Levi gave the phone to Alexei, still careful with his tone. "Mr. Walker, it's the Lord of Gapdiff."
"Arthur, you're doing great. Owning the land?" Alexei teased with a grin.
The voice on the other end was practically buzzing. "Greetings, sir! You're in Lenoville now, right? I'm catching a flight to meet you. I've been dying to see you!"
Arthur's words came out like rapid-fire, non-stop.
No one would've guessed that the usually quiet and calculating Lord of Gapdiff could be this talkative. If people found out, they'd probably be speechless.
"If you even think about coming, I'll break your bones," Alexei said flatly.
The other person went quiet for a second before replying, sounding hurt, "Dragon Lord, when can we meet again?"
"I'll let you know when the time's right," Alexei said, then hung up and handed the phone back to Levi.
Levi swallowed hard. If he hadn't heard it himself, he wouldn't have believed it. This guy just threatened to break Lord of Gapdiff's bones.
And yet, Lord of Gapdiff had backed down—something Levi never thought he would see.
That only meant this young man in front of him was on a whole different level than the Lord of Gapdiff.
Levi was left confused, trying to process what just happened.
