Chapter 7 What That Life Feels Like
“And who are you calling an old witch, you little b*stard?”
Ariadne reached out to smack Daxton, but before her hand could make contact, it was firmly seized.
“Get out of my sight before I lose my patience and do something I'll regret.”
Luna looked at Ariadne coldly.
Ariadne pulled back her hand, glaring at them menacingly.
“Do I really need to remind you of the scandalous things you did years ago? Everyone in the city knows that from a young age, you have a knack for seducing men, just like your mother. You're both—”
Before she could finish, she was sent flying by Luna's kick, crashing into the wall.
Ariadne hadn't clearly seen how Luna had kicked her. All she felt was a faint ache in her heart, along with unbearable pain in her lower abdomen and ribs.
She pointed at Luna and said in a quivering voice, “Just you wait, Luna. Your father won't let you off the hook!”
“Are you serious?”
Luna moved toward Ariadne.
Ariadne took a step back, but unfortunately, it was of no use.
Luna gripped Ariadne's chin, her other hand casually tucked in her pocket. Although Luna wore a smile, it sent shivers down Ariadne's spine.
“I'm warning you, don't mess around!”
Ariadne swallowed, feeling a touch of regret for having provoked Luna.
At that moment, Luna appeared to be like a ravenous wolf, and Ariadne seemed like the prey she was ready to slaughter.
“Don't worry, I won't kill you.” Luna tightened her grip on Ariadne's chin. “It's good that you're here. Pass along a message to Edward for me: Luna has returned!”
I've returned to reclaim everything that belongs to me!
“Your father has been searching for you all these years, hoping to make it up to you. I can't believe you've turned out like this. Luna, you've truly let your father down.”
“Make it up to me?” Luna patted Ariadne's face with a smirk, then whispered in her ear, “Indeed, compensation is due. However, what I'm after isn't just compensation, but the entire Smith family.”
Luna rose to her feet, only to hear Ariadne's shrill scream piercing the air. “Dream on! Just because your deceased mother left you some shares, don't think you can take over the entire Smith family. I'm telling you, don't even think about it!”
Luna reacted as if she'd heard a joke, casually cleaning her ears. “I don't usually think about this kind of thing. I just do it!”
No sooner had she finished speaking than she pulled out a card from her wallet and handed it to the waiter.
“Check, please! Settle the damages as well.”
“Luna, don't get cocky just because you've found a sugar daddy abroad. Watch out, or you might get dumped in a couple of days.”
The glint in Luna's eyes grew colder. “Thanks to you all, I was constantly pursued overseas. I'm standing here alive because I wanted to return and give you a taste of what that life feels like.”
Watching Luna's retreating figure, Ariadne was so frightened that her forehead was drenched in sweat.
Impossible, how could she possibly know?
Scrambling to her feet, Ariadne brushed off the waiter's hand and clumsily pulled out her phone to make a call.
Luna had returned, and she had to inform Edward. This time, they absolutely couldn't let her escape.
