Chapter 6 You Have Finally Made It
By the time the doctors and nurses gathered around, Luna had already quietly slipped away.
Seeing her two sons waiting nearby, each carrying bags of various sizes, Luna briskly walked over to them with a smile.
“Mommy, I'm hungry. Can we go get something to eat first?”
Daxton gently patted his stomach, casting a pitiful glance at Luna.
“You ate so much on the plane. Is your stomach a black hole?” Paxton scolded Daxton with an annoyed glance, sounding just like an adult.
Daxton lowered his head, feeling aggrieved.
Gently patting Paxton and Daxton on the head, Luna chuckled softly. “Okay, let's leave our bags at the front desk for delivery and grab something to eat.”
After arranging the delivery, Luna, holding the hands of Paxton and Daxton, took the elevator up to the revolving restaurant on the eighty-sixth floor.
Securing a spot by the window, Luna handed the menu to her two sons. After they had chosen their desired dishes, she added some seafood and fruit tea to the order. Then, she handed the menu back to the waiter.
Daxton, propping up his chin, blinked at Luna. “Mommy, do we still have money?”
“Don't worry about it, sweetheart. What do you want to buy?” Luna asked curiously, squeezing his chubby cheeks.
“I want to buy a piano.”
“All right, what brand do you want? I will get it for you later.”
Luna never hesitated when it came to buying things for her two sons.
“I'm not interested in buying just any brand. What I want is the one Liny played on. It's going to be auctioned in Crownford in a few days.”
Liny, a trailblazer in the world of piano, was also the president of the International Music Association. His proficiency in piano had long since reached an otherworldly level.
Daxton had the honor of being taught by Liny and became a dedicated fan ever since.
Patting Daxton's head, Luna responded with a smile, “When is the auction? Tell me and I will get it for you.”
“Thank you, Mommy. You're the best!”
Luna was thoroughly enjoying her meal after slicing the Buffalo wings for Paxton and Daxton when suddenly, a cry of surprise echoed in her ears.
“Luna? It really is you!”
Luna lifted her head and looked at the woman before her. A glint of ruthlessness flashed in her eyes.
“You actually came back. Your father was just talking about you a few days ago, and now here you are.”
The woman standing before her was none other than Ariadne Lowes, Edward's second wife.
She had gained the upper hand and, in her initial attempts to undermine Luna, had filled Edward's ears with all sorts of lies in the privacy of their bedroom.
Luna's eyes grew increasingly cold as she remembered the things they had done to her in the past.
“Seeing you reminds me of that endless prattling I heard when I left the house this morning!”
Hearing that, Ariadne scoffed silently in her heart. Her gaze shifted to Paxton and Daxton, and then she asked, “These two kids aren't yours, are they?”
“What's it to you?”
“Hey, I'm your father's current wife. You should show me some respect!”
Ariadne wanted to let Luna know that she had successfully become her father's wife.
To her surprise, Luna took a sip of her drink and said nonchalantly, “Congratulations, you've finally made it.”
“What do you mean?”
Ariadne, being the other woman who had ultimately torn a family apart, absolutely detested such remarks. Her face instantly fell.
“It's exactly as it sounds.”
Ariadne couldn't help but point at her and curse, “Just as I thought, you're a lowlife who never had a mother to teach you any manners!”
Daxton hopped off the chair, fiercely kicking Ariadne's ankle with his small foot.
“Who are you to insult my mommy, you old witch?”
