Chapter 3 Willa's Triumph
"It's really her!"
Willa exclaimed, her jaw dropping in astonishment.
"That sc*mbag Tyler must have gotten incredibly lucky to win the favor of a woman like that!"
Her words seemed to snap Clarissa out of her daze.
Clarissa's tense expression eased.
"I know Tyler's capabilities well. There's no way he could've connected with someone from such a wealthy family unless he's lying."
"A liar?"
Willa's eyes lit up.
"You're right! Tyler has always been a fraud."
"We've known him for quite a while, and we've never seen him perform any medical skills. But just now, Ms. Middleton said she invited him to treat someone."
It was as if she had uncovered a shocking secret, instantly transforming into a self-proclaimed truth-seeker.
"Let's go! We'll follow him and expose his lies.
"If we can win Ms. Middleton's favor because of this, the Prestons will soar!"
...
Meanwhile, Tyler followed Mona straight to the special care ward.
As the door opened, a heated discussion spilt into the hallway.
"Traditional medicine won't work. Those herbs and leaves can't possibly cure Madam Hoffman's illness."
"Oh, so modern medicine can? Then why has her condition only gotten worse under your care?"
"That's because our lab results and bacterial cultures aren't in yet. Once we have those, she'll be cured in no time."
"Nonsense! You've been treating her for three months with no results, and now Madam Hoffman is on her last breath!"
Tyler realized that this ward had two rooms.
The elderly lady lay in the inner room while the outer room was filled with doctors arguing.
As expected, traditional and modern medicine practitioners were at odds again.
Just as Tyler was about to speak, a middle-aged modern doctor in his forties stepped forward.
"Ms. Middleton, does the reward your family offered still stand?"
Mona's expression immediately turned icy.
"Are you questioning the credibility of the Middletons?"
The doctor quickly apologized, but a smug smile crept across his face.
At that moment, an elderly traditional medicine practitioner stepped forward and rebuked him.
"Dr. Alex, you've got no shame! Your son is about the same age as Ms. Middleton, and yet you still want to marry her?"
"Who are you calling shameless?" Dr. Alex retorted.
"You're old enough to be her grandfather, yet you're still drooling over her beauty!"
Just as the two were about to start bickering again, Mona's voice rang out sharply.
"Enough! Everyone be quiet!
"I've already brought back a divine doctor.
"You can all leave now!"
What!?
In an instant, dozens of eyes turned toward her and Tyler.
"Ms. Middleton, you must be joking. Him? Is he capable of curing Madam Hoffman?"
"He's just a whippersnapper, barely out of diapers. Even if he'd been cramming medical textbooks since the cradle, there's no way he's more skilled than us seasoned professionals."
"Kid, if you know what's good for you, leave now and don't waste our time."
Tyler ignored their arrogance and simply turned to Mona.
"Should I leave?"
Mona's face turned frosty.
Her father had gone to great lengths to hire this divine doctor. How could she let a few arrogant fools drive him away?
"You are all respected figures in the medical field. Don't disgrace yourselves."
The crowd instantly quieted down, sensing her genuine anger.
Before they could respond, two women burst into the room.
"Don't be fooled! He's a fraud. He doesn't know anything about medicine!"
Willa stormed in, grabbing Tyler and unleashing a torrent of ridicule.
"This man, Tyler Glisson!
"He's the son-in-law of the Prestons.
"He's been freeloading off us for three years, doing nothing but laundry and cooking. There's no way he knows any medical skills.
"If you let him treat Madam Hoffman, it's murder!
"Ms. Middleton, please open your eyes and see the truth."
Her words sent shockwaves through the room.
The doctors, who were already displeased with Tyler's presence, now had the perfect opportunity to strike back.
"Kid, so you were pretending all along, trying to deceive Ms. Middleton!"
"This man's a fraud. We should turn him over to the authorities."
"Practicing medicine without a license and endangering lives, huh? He deserves life in prison!"
With the crowd now siding with her, Willa puffed up with pride.
"Tyler, do you see now? You think you can challenge me, huh?" Willa gloated, her voice dripping with satisfaction.
"Bow to me and admit your mistake, and maybe I'll ask Ms. Middleton to show you mercy.
"Otherwise, you'll be ruined for life by charges of fraud."
She then pulled Clarissa along, proudly strutting over to Mona.
"Ms. Middleton, this is my daughter, Clarissa.
"We're in the construction business, and we'd love to work with you."
Her blatant attempt at ingratiation stunned everyone present.
Who was this shameless woman, daring to curry favor with Ms. Middleton so openly?
Mona's expression turned glacial, her powerful aura sweeping through the room like a chilling wind.
"Security, get them out of here!"
The bodyguards marched in, and Willa laughed triumphantly.
"Tyler, do you see? Ms. Middleton is having you thrown out!
"If you bow and beg me now, I might say a few kind words on your behalf."
