Chapter 19

Emma awoke to a sore body and to the sound of her brother's insistent knock on her door. "Emma, are you awake?" She couldn't form a single word, just grunted like a wounded animal, and Ethan entered the room without waiting for an answer. Her brother placed a hand on his chest, holding the pendant. "Tell me that I'm not losing it and you remember exactly the same stuff I do." Emma cleared her voice, noticing her dry throat. She didn't want to move because if she did it would be impossible to hide how much her body hurt and her brother would feel guilty.
