Chapter 13 Ungrateful Offspring
When the middle-aged woman realized that the money in her hand had disappeared, she couldn't help but feel furious, glaring at Ye Fei with hatred. "Don't distort the truth here. My father was killed by her. Everyone saw it. Are you trying to avoid responsibility?"
The people around nodded in agreement, many of them vividly recalling the events of that day.
Ye Fei's gaze turned cold, a smirk playing on his lips. "You keep referring to him as 'dad', but all you care about is money. Have you ever truly looked at the old man? Is the man lying on the ground your father, or is the money your father?"
His cutting words caused the middle-aged woman's face to contort in anger, while the onlookers' eyes reflected disdain.
Since the old man's accident, the middle-aged woman seemed to have never spared him a second glance, only focusing on complaints and demands for money.
Previously, no one had paid much attention, but now, thanks to Ye Fei's observation, everyone began to see the situation clearly.
"Don't make baseless accusations." The middle-aged woman's face flushed with anger as she spoke in a frustrated tone, "This is a family matter. My father was killed by her. Naturally, I must find the culprit."
"Who said your father has passed away?"
Ye Fei's calm statement left the surrounding crowd puzzled.
Sun Xinfang appeared anxious as she whispered, "This old man has poor health. During the recent treatment, his pupils dilated, indicating..."
Although Sun Xinfang's words were somewhat unclear, their meaning was unmistakable.
The old man had indeed passed away!
The middle-aged woman's demeanor suddenly shifted, as she shouted at the top of her lungs, "My father has stopped breathing! You don't understand anything, get out of here and stop spreading lies."
The onlookers turned their gaze towards the old man, noticing his tightly closed eyes, pale complexion, foam at the corners of his mouth, and lack of movement in his chest.
"Ah..."
Ye Fei sighed, shaking his head, "You ungrateful child, are you truly willing to bury your father like this?"
"Rest in peace."
The middle-aged woman declared confidently, "He's already gone, why prolong his suffering?"
Ye Fei's expression turned cold, "You are the one responsible for your father's death!"
This accusation was final!
The middle-aged woman's expression changed drastically as she leaped up and unleashed a string of profanities.
"You ungrateful wretch..."
Slap!
Ye Fei delivered a sharp slap to the woman's face, a fierce glint in his eyes, "If you utter another curse, I will silence you for good!"
Confronted by Ye Fei's icy stare, the middle-aged woman felt a chill run down her spine, lowering her head in defeat, too frightened to speak.
The surrounding crowd fell silent as Ye Fei approached the old man, applying pressure to certain acupoints.
To everyone's amazement, the old man began to cough violently, eventually stirring back to consciousness.
"This..."
The onlookers were stunned, Sun Xinfang stared in disbelief, wondering how the man had come back to life after seemingly passing away.
The once arrogant middle-aged woman now paled, her eyes filled with fear as she accused, "He's pretending to be dead!"
"Silence!"
Ye Fei snapped, pressing on the old man's chest acupoints several times, dispersing the accumulated breath.
As the old man regained his composure, he gratefully clasped Ye Fei's hand, "Young man, thank you! If it weren't for you, I would have been buried alive by this ungrateful child today."
Upon hearing this, the middle-aged woman's complexion grew even paler, stuttering as she attempted to explain, "Dad, I truly believed that you were..."
"Hmph, even if I hadn't died, your anger would have killed me!" The elderly man was so furious that his eyebrows trembled as he pointed at the middle-aged woman and cursed at her.
Ye Fei finally understood why this woman was so skilled at cursing people; it seemed to be genetic.
After a round of scolding, the elderly man dragged the middle-aged woman over to apologize to Ye Fei and Sun Xinfang.
"I apologize for my earlier behavior. I said things I shouldn't have said, please forgive me."
After Ye Fei had slapped her, the anger in his heart had dissipated.
Sun Xinfang was still upset, saying coldly, "In the future, refrain from watching nonsense TV dramas. Proper methods are required for treating illnesses and saving lives. Incorrect methods will only harm people."
"I understand, thank you for your guidance." The middle-aged woman nodded apologetically.
Seeing that she had realized her mistake, Sun Xinfang didn't dwell on it and simply took Ye Fei back to the chaotic stall.
After all the commotion, the wontons had already gone cold.
Sun Xinfang had lost her appetite, but she was more intrigued by Ye Fei, staring at him with curiosity in her eyes.
Ye Fei subconsciously touched his face and found it clean. He couldn't help but wonder, "Do I have pimples on my face? Why are you staring at me?"
"I'm just curious about the kind of person you are."
Sun Xinfang's eyes were sharp. "When you were treating the elderly man earlier, you seemed to be using acupuncture techniques without silver needles. You were able to target the affected area with just the strength of your fingers. Such a professional technique, I've only heard my teacher talk about it. Where did you learn it?"
"Well..."
Ye Fei casually replied while eating wontons, "There used to be a blind old man at the entrance of our house who specialized in massage. I learned a few tricks from him. It's nothing extraordinary."
"Is that so?"
Sun Xinfang chuckled, "If this isn't considered extraordinary medical skills, then what we learn in school would be a scam."
Ye Fei chuckled awkwardly, lowered his head to eat his wontons, and didn't respond further.
But Sun Xinfang became even more interested, staring at him intently and muttering to herself, "I thought you were just like those boring, smelly men trying to pursue me! Your performance this afternoon was not bad, and I was thinking of giving you a chance..."
Is this woman too self-absorbed?
Ye Fei secretly complained in his heart; he never had that idea at all. He didn't understand how she came up with it.
"Director Sun."
Ye Fei looked helpless, "What happened earlier was just a coincidence. I went back to get my car keys and happened to come across the situation. I couldn't stand by and watch such behavior, so I had to intervene to help you. I would have done the same for anyone else."
Sun Xinfang frowned, a hint of disappointment in her expression, and asked in confusion, "So you didn't try to get close to me or pursue me? With your medical skills, you could be the head of the department here. Why choose to be a janitor?"
Ye Fei almost spat out a mouthful of old blood; this woman's logic was strange. Am I a janitor just to pursue her?
