Chapter 28

I crept through the streets of the small town of where I’d gotten information Amelia was, my boots sounding on the tarred floor. The moon hung low in the sky, casting shadows around me that evening. My heart raced with every step as I searched for any sign of Amelia. She had vanished without a trace, leaving me with nothing but a desperation to find her in this forsaken place. I had found out that Lucia was on a mission of her own. She had her own network of loyal men, carefully hidden among mine, feeding her information. She was determined to find Amelia before I did, to prove her loyalty to a cause I could never fully understand.
