Chapter 20

Turning towards the sound I find a large Sitka Spruce Tree with a large trunk with areas I can hide. The ground trembles slightly and I realize the earth is also helping me by wiping away my footprints. I crawl as high as I can inside of the trunk, quietly trying to even my breathing. My body is still trembling and my heart feels as though it is beating out of my chest. "Thank you," I send in gratitude to the old and wise tree that has given me shelter. Tears are burning in my eyes, but I know that this isn't over. I can't break down yet.
