Scarlett's POV: The chill of the champagne flute was a strange feeling in my palm, the celebratory fizz out of key with the turmoil in my chest. I had signed the contract and closed the deal: a great victory by greatness, intelligence, and an unspoken intensity between Sebastian and me that had transcended all the limits of the boardroom. He stood near me with an easy satisfaction, his gaze lingering on mine in such a way that I involuntarily shuddered. One thing was for sure: it truly was our success to share, yet a kind of queasiness somewhere in the pit of my stomach started to settle in.
