Chapter 8 The Auction Is “High-profile Revenge” For Her
It happened so quickly. Elena Schultz hurriedly covered her left cheek with her hair and then looked at the man who had entered. "What's the matter?"
It wasn't that she was deliberately hiding something. Instead, she felt that if she didn't have this scar, Leonard DeLuca would be even less likely to let go of her.
Leonard DeLuca held a tray in his hand. "I'm bringing you something to eat."
"I'm not hungry."
"You have to eat even if you're not hungry. You were exhausted the other day, and you haven't fully recovered yet."
Elena Schultz: "..."
Her face blushed involuntarily. "Leonard, can we let go of what happened that day?"
"Why should we let go of something that really happened?" the man retorted.
"I can't argue with you!"
Leonard DeLuca placed the tray on the bedside table. Suddenly, he noticed something on it. "What's this?"
Elena Schultz turned her head and saw that it was her fake scar!
She quickly grabbed it. "It's nothing, just something a girl uses."
Leonard DeLuca didn't press further. "Drink the bird's nest and rest early. There's an auction tomorrow, and I want you to accompany me."
"I don't want to." Elena Schultz refused immediately. "I don't like that kind of occasion. You can find someone else to go with you."
"Miss Schultz, as a girlfriend, it's only reasonable to accompany your boyfriend to an auction, isn't it?" Leonard DeLuca looked at her. "And I heard that Caleb Johnson and Sofia Schultz will also be there. Don't you want to meet them?"
Elena Schultz did want to, but she really didn't have the strength to compete with them at the moment. Going there would only make herself unhappy.
"I'm not interested. I'm not going."
"It's okay if you don't go. I'll bid on more things in your name and bring them back."
Elena Schultz: "..."
"Leonard, are you doing this on purpose? Bidding in my name, do you want me to become famous?"
"Isn't it a good thing to be famous?"
Elena Schultz was almost furious. "Fine, I'll go! But you have to promise me to keep a low profile!"
"Okay." Leonard DeLuca handed her the soup bowl. "Eat."
"I said I'm not hungry!"
"I won't leave until you eat."
Elena Schultz gave him a glare, took the soup bowl, and took a sip of the bird's nest.
It actually tasted good.
She finished it in a few bites. "Can you leave now?"
"Be good. Good night."
After Leonard DeLuca left, Elena Schultz immediately got out of bed and locked the door.
It seemed that the next month wouldn't be easy!
...
The next evening, a black Bentley stopped at the entrance of the villa.
The villa gate opened. Leonard DeLuca turned his head and saw the girl, almost fully masked with a hat, a mask, and sunglasses, sitting in a wheelchair and clumsily maneuvering it out. Leonard DeLuca: "......???"
Elena Schultz came to the side of the car and stood up from the wheelchair.
The driver stepped forward to fold the wheelchair.
"Thank you. Please put it in the trunk. I'll need to use it again when I get out of the car."
Leonard DeLuca: "..."
"Elena, what are you trying to do?"
"Keep a low profile. My foot can easily give me away. If I'm in a wheelchair, no one will recognize me."
"......"
"Is it really necessary?"
"Absolutely necessary!"
Leonard DeLuca didn't say much more and instructed the driver to start the car.
When they arrived at the auction site, Elena Schultz realized she had overthought it.
They went upstairs via a very secret elevator, and they were sitting in a private room where no one could see her.
She suddenly felt that she had gone to unnecessary trouble. "Why didn't you tell me earlier? I even came in a wheelchair on purpose."
"You didn't ask me."
Elena Schultz stood up and stretched. They were in a VIP position on the second floor, and there were also seats downstairs in the open area.
The auction officially began. Leonard DeLuca handed her a special remote control. "Bid on whatever you like."
"Thank you. I'm not interested in these things." Elena Schultz looked downstairs with a telescope. "Didn't you say Caleb Johnson and Sofia Schultz were also here? Where are they?"
"Private Room No. 6."
"Oh."
Elena Schultz was indeed not interested in the auction items. However, when she heard that the people in Private Room No. 6 were bidding on a blue-and-white porcelain vase, Leonard DeLuca beside her immediately picked up the remote control and increased the bid.
"What are you doing?" Elena Schultz was shocked.
"I like it."
"Oh." She had thought he was deliberately competing with Caleb Johnson.
Caleb Johnson's mother really liked antiques, especially blue-and-white porcelain.
Sure enough, Caleb Johnson increased the bid again.
But Leonard DeLuca immediately followed with a higher bid.
After several rounds of bidding, Caleb Johnson finally gave up, and Leonard DeLuca bought the blue-and-white porcelain vase for seven figures.
Elena Schultz turned to look at the man beside her. She wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but she felt that the corner of Leonard DeLuca's lips curled up into a faint, triumphant smile.
It was very faint, yet impossible to ignore.
Why did she feel that this man was deliberately competing with Caleb Johnson?
But then she thought, she must be overthinking it.
The next item up for auction was a set of rare Phoebe zhennan furniture, with a starting bid of six figures.
Caleb Johnson obviously liked it and bid again. Leonard DeLuca once again increased the bid.
Elena Schultz couldn't help but say, "Leonard, this set of furniture doesn't seem to match the decoration style of your house."
"I have other properties."
Elena Schultz: "......" The big shot was truly outrageously wealthy!
The certain big shot didn't hold back at all and snatched this set of furniture from Caleb Johnson's hands again.
For the following auction items, whenever the people in Private Room No. 6 made a bid, Leonard DeLuca would definitely increase the bid and buy it.
Elena Schultz, who was stunned, was now certain that she wasn't overthinking it. Leonard DeLuca was definitely competing with Caleb Johnson!
Regarding this childish behavior, all she wanted to say was... Well done!
"Mr. DeLuca, are you going against Caleb Johnson for my sake?" Elena Schultz couldn't help but ask.
"It's only right to stand up for my girlfriend."
Elena Schultz's heart started beating uncontrollably, thumping like a little deer running wild in her chest.
This was a feeling she had never experienced before, leaving her stunned for a moment.
"Are you touched?" Leonard DeLuca curved his lips. "I don't mind if you repay me."
Elena Schultz blurted out instinctively, "How can I repay you?"
The man reached out his hand to her. "Come here."
As if in a trance, Elena Schultz stood up as he said and took two steps to his side.
A large, cold hand grasped her left hand.
The next moment, with a whirl, Elena Schultz was pulled into his embrace and landed on his lap.
Before Elena Schultz could react, the handsome face in front of her suddenly got closer, and the man's thin lips directly covered hers...
"Mmm..."
All of Elena Schultz's words were blocked. She felt an electric current run through her limbs and bones where their lips met.
Her mind went blank, as if countless fireworks were blooming simultaneously, gorgeous and shocking.
Her breath was plundered violently, and all she could feel was the unique, refreshing and pleasant hormonal scent on him, as if it carried a kind of magic that made her sink...
After a long time, when Leonard DeLuca felt that she was almost out of breath, he reluctantly pulled away from her lips. "Miss Schultz, I'm very satisfied with this thank-you gift."
The girl in his arms had a face so red that it seemed as if blood would drip from it. She glared at him angrily. "Who allowed you to kiss me without permission!"
"I said, this is the thank-you gift."
"...... I didn't say I would thank you like this!"
"I don't lack anything else. This is the only way you can thank me."
Elena Schultz: "......"
"Let me go."
Instead of letting her go, the man hugged her waist even tighter. "How about you thank me for the rest as well?"
