Chapter 5 She Was Forced To Get Married By An Ascetic Boss
"Get out!"
Elena Schultz was in a towering rage and wouldn't see anyone, not even if the King of Heaven himself showed up.
The bodyguards didn't utter a word. Each grabbed one of her arms and dragged her out forcefully.
"Let go! Where are you taking me?" Elena Schultz struggled vigorously, but after a night of turmoil, she simply had no strength left to resist.
She was stuffed into a car and landed in a firm embrace.
A refreshing and alluring pure male hormonal scent wafted over. Elena Schultz instinctively looked up and saw the man's strikingly handsome face.
In a fit of anger, she snapped, "Why are you such a persistent nuisance!"
Leonard DeLuca's long, slender and well-defined fingers grasped her chin. There was a glint of anger mixed in his deep, calm eyes. "You've grown quite bold. Not only did you pretend to be drunk to deceive me, but you also dared to jump into the sea? Aren't you afraid of being devoured by a shark?"
"There are no sharks in this kind of sea area. Sir, I have urgent matters to attend to, so I'll be taking my leave now. Let's never cross paths again."
Elena Schultz turned to get out of the car, only to find that the car door was locked and the vehicle had already started moving.
"Do you really think you can escape?" The man sneered slightly, his voice turning icy cold. "Do you know what the consequences are for sleeping with me and then trying to shirk your responsibility?"
Elena Schultz's eyes widened in shock. "Are you seriously trying to cling onto me?"
"You could put it that way."
Elena Schultz: "..."
This man is incredibly shameless!
"I once saved your life with acupuncture. Let's consider our debts settled."
"I'll repay the debt I owe you, but since you slept with me, you have to take responsibility."
Elena Schultz: "..."
"Sir, I think you should calm down now. I truly have important things to deal with and need to leave."
"Without my permission, do you think you stand a chance of getting away?"
Elena Schultz was beside herself with frustration. "What on earth do you want from me!"
"Marry me."
"Absolutely out of the question!"
The man remained unruffled. "Then you'll come back to the island with me and stay there until we turn this impossible situation into a possible one."
Elena Schultz tugged at her hair in desperation. "Mr. Leonard, why are you so hell-bent on hounding me?"
"You belong to me."
Elena Schultz: "You want to marry me, fine. But I know next to nothing about you. There's no way I'm going to marry you right now."
The man arched an eyebrow. "Are you saying you need time to get to know me?"
"Precisely. We need to get to know each other better before we can decide whether or not to get married. But on the condition that you won't imprison me." Leonard DeLuca saw through her little scheme at a glance. His slender fingertips tapped rhythmically on the seat. "Miss Schultz, I'd like to make it clear that I'm not imprisoning you. I'm simply looking to deepen our mutual understanding."
Elena Schultz: "..." Humph!
"Can you respect my wishes now?"
"Sure, but you'll still have to live with me."
"It's not convenient to live on that island."
"I have another property. We'll move to the city tomorrow."
After Leonard DeLuca finished speaking, he waited for quite a while, but didn't receive a response from the girl. When he turned his head to look, he saw that she had already fallen asleep, leaning against the seatback.
She seemed utterly exhausted and was sleeping soundly, though her brows were furrowed tightly.
The man reached out his hand and gently stroked the top of her head, his eyes growing even more profound.
...
The next day.
Elena Schultz gradually woke up and found herself looking at a ceiling that wasn't unfamiliar.
She had been so tired last night that she'd actually dozed off in the car.
Elena Schultz got out of bed and noticed a set of clothes laid out on the sofa beside the bed. It was obvious that they were prepared for her.
She desperately needed to take a shower and change clothes, so she picked up the clothes and headed into the bathroom.
Elena Schultz locked the bathroom door from the inside, peeled off the scar on her face, revealing a perfectly exquisite visage.
The scar that had disfigured her had actually healed half a month ago. She'd originally planned to give Caleb Johnson a pleasant surprise at the engagement banquet, but things had taken an unexpected turn.
She took a relaxing bath in the bathtub and felt as if all the fatigue in her body had been washed away.
After taking a shower and reapplying the scar, Elena Schultz put on the clothes and then made her way downstairs.
After having a meal, Leonard DeLuca took her off the island and brought her to a villa in the city.
Elena Schultz was puzzled. "What's the meaning of this?"
"You promised me last night that you'd live with me. Since you thought it was inconvenient to live on the island, we've moved here."
Elena Schultz: "..."!!!
"Impossible. How could I have promised to live with you?"
"You clearly promised to get to know each other. Are you trying to go back on your word?"
Elena Schultz ran her fingers through her neatly arranged hair. It seemed that she really had made that promise last night because it had been the only feasible solution at the time!
"Mr. Leonard, I..."
"Leonard DeLuca. That's my name." The man interrupted her.
"Oh, Leonard DeLuca." Elena Schultz readily corrected herself. Leonard DeLuca: "..." He'd told her his name not for her to address him by his full name.
"Leonard DeLuca, you want to marry me, but I'm not willing. So the agreement we've reached now is to get to know each other better, right?"
"Yes."
"Then this process of getting to know each other should have a time limit. We can't waste each other's time for three or five years. So I think we should set a one-month time limit. After one month, if I still don't want to marry you, you can't force me any further. Otherwise, if you push me too hard, I'll really fight you tooth and nail."
"One month..." The man's fingertips tapped lightly on the armrest of the wheelchair. "Alright, I agree. We'll date for a month and then get married."
Elena Schultz: "..." Of course, she intended to never see him again after one month. Who would want to marry him!
Leonard DeLuca saw through her thoughts and said calmly, "To deepen our understanding, you have to live here for this month."
Elena Schultz's mouth twitched. "Do I really have to live here? Even if we're... dating now, there's no need for us to live together."
"It's fine if you don't want to live here."
Elena Schultz's spirits lifted, but the next moment, she heard the man say, "Then I'll move to your place."
Elena Schultz: "..." She should have known!
"It seems that Miss Schultz has chosen to live here." Leonard DeLuca was quite satisfied. "From now on, we are the closest people in each other's lives."
Elena Schultz's face flushed bright red in an instant. "Who's the closest person to you!"
Leonard DeLuca raised an eyebrow. "Miss Schultz, since we're living together, do you think you're my girlfriend or my fiancée now?"
Elena Schultz's face reddened again involuntarily. "..." I don't know."
"Then I'll make the decision for you. Let's consider you my fiancée."
"Definitely not!" Elena Schultz blurted out. "I'm not your fiancée!"
"Then you're my girlfriend. You've essentially chosen this identity for yourself."
Elena Schultz: "..." This man is so shrewd. He set a trap and got her to fall right into it!
"No, no. When exactly did I become your girlfriend?"
"Just now."
Elena Schultz: "..." Help! She was really going crazy!
Was this man some kind of nemesis sent by the heavens?
She felt that she couldn't continue this conversation, or she might end up doing something really foolish.
"Leonard DeLuca, why are you so insistent on pestering me?" Elena Schultz was completely bewildered. "Could it be that... that night was your first time?"
