Chapter 3 Scotts Daughter
“Please, don't tell them anything. They will kill me,” I begged.
But she sighed sadly. “I'm sorry. They promised me a lot of money. I need it.”
I didn't think. I ran again. And this time, it was like the whole city was after me.
I ran behind the trash container and stayed still. Luckily, most of the people ran by. They didn't see me.
I shut my eyes tight and tried hard not to cry. Then, I remembered something.
I took out my phone that I hadn't switched on for so long. Luckily, I had been clever and charged it at the old couples' house.
I tapped the numbers that I could clearly remember and made a call. I held my breath as I waited.
The phone rang for a while before it was picked up. “Speak,” I heard a cold voice from the other side.
“Scott Carter asked me to call you if I needed help. I'm his daughter,” I said.
The other side was silent for so long that I was scared that he had hung up.
“You have to help me. Just get me out of this town and I'll won't bother you again.”
“You said Scott Carter?” The other person asked.
“Yes,” I replied. “I swear I tried so hard not to call. He said it would be important to call you.”
“Scott is dead,” the man said.
And I couldn't help but sigh. “He was my dad. Yes, he died two years ago-”
“Where are you?” I was trying to explain when he cut me short.
“I don't know,” I said in embarrassment. I was new in this city.
“Leave your phone on for three minutes then switch it off,” the man said and hung up.
I looked at my phone in confusion. I didn't even know if he was coming or not. Still, I did as I was told.
…
Tony was in a complicated mood after the call. He just instructed his men to track the phone.
But something was bothering him. Did the girl just say that she was Scott's daughter?
Scott was his mentor, his master, and more like his father ever since he was ten.
He picked him up when his own family abandoned him, just because he was an illegitimate child.
When his mom died, his dad took him in. But just a few days later, his step mom kicked him out of the house.
His dad was never fond of him to begin with. So, he never looked for him. It was like they never cared if he was dead or alive.
All they did was put all their attention on their other two children, his brother and sister.
Also, the extended family didn't care about him. They said that he wasn't their blood.
And since he didn't know anyone from his mother's side, he began fending for himself, until Scott found him and trained him to be the man he was now.
Tony was not only a rich billionaire who owned a very big company in the country, he was also an underground Mafia king who controlled almost everything that happened in the country.
He was respected and envied by many people. But still, he had a lot of anomies. So, he was always very careful of whom he interacted with.
When he heard of Scott's death two years ago, he was broken. Of course, he knew that his Master had enemies every where. But it was still so hard for him to accept it.
The same day, he received a call from a girl, who claimed to be Scott's daughter. The girl said that she needed his help, that people she didn't know were after her.
Tony always knew that Scott had a daughter and a son, but he had never met them in person. Scott liked to keep his private life private.
So, when someone else called him two years later claiming to be Scott's daughter, he felt confused.
But something inside him nagged him to find the girl. He didn't know why, but he wanted to find her.
“Don, this could be a trap,” his personal assistant, Drake, tried to explain.
Tony knew that it could be a trap, but he still felt like he needed to try. What if things were more complicated than they thought?
“Inform a few of the trusted guards. We are going for her,” he instructed.
Drake's phone vibrated, and when he picked it up, he seemed a bit worried.
“Don, Cliff is in the city. His men are everywhere. They seem to be looking for something,” he explained.
Tony briefly raised his brows. “The girl,” he said. “Let’s go!”
