Chapter 8
"How about this pair?" Kevin presented a pair of white sneakers to Abigail.
"Abby, how about this shoulder bag?" Lauryn took off a bag. "It's as if it's tailor-made for you... It would look good on you!"
Abigail's eyes sparkled like lacquer, her temperament refined and otherworldly, as she listened to them talking.
Courtney, standing on the side, had turned pale and looked utterly shocked.
She couldn't believe her ears!
'What happened? What exactly is going on? Why are Mom and Dad treating Abigail as their daughter and giving her so many Alana Designs limited editions?'
As she saw them surround Abigail with a look of concern, a feeling of panic welled up in Courtney's heart.
'I was only away for a month? What is all this?'
"All of them are in your size. If you don't like them, I will have another batch made!" Kevin looked fondly at Abigail.
"It's not necessary," Abigail said with a charming smile and a soft voice. "They are all lovely."
Zack could sense from Abigail's tone that she was not entirely satisfied.
These were all her early works, intended to last only a year or so.
Unexpectedly, by a strange twist of fate, they were now back in her hands.
"How much are these?"
Suddenly, Abigail's eyes fell on Zack.
Zack hesitated for a moment and hurriedly said, "These are the latest representative works of Alana, the founder of Alana Designs. She is known for her beauty and talent. And the cheapest item is priced at 3 million."
Abigail was speechless.
"As you know, most of Alana's works are priced about 500 to 800 thousand, and her real masterpieces start at one million."
It was clear that Kevin had ordered only the top-of-the-line items, all of which started at one million.
The only difference between the masterpieces and the regular works was the length of time Alana spent on the drafts.
Anyway, Zack had seen his boss draw hundreds of sketches in a single night...
A high-quality draft may take a few minutes longer than an ordinary draft...
"So, how much in total?" Abigail raised her eyebrows and gave Zack a meaningful look.
Zack didn't understand what she meant and was somewhat uneasy. "Alana Designs received a total of 400 million from Mr. Baldwin."
Abigail didn't expect to earn so much money from her biological parents on the first day she returned home. She couldn't help but feel guilty. "It's quite expensive."
"Not at all!" Zack hurriedly explained, "Alana Designs doesn't pursue quantity, but only cares about quality. The production is limited, and each piece is a hit! Wear it and you will be the most beautiful woman in the crowd!"
"It's not cheap." Abigail slightly accentuated her tone, adding some pressure to her gaze.
Seeing her suggestive gaze and combining it with what she had said, Zack understood. "No, it's not. Well, considering Mr. Baldwin's bulk order today, I may offer a 10% discount."
Abigail savored his words, "10% off?"
"20, 20% off...?"
Zack was uncertain. Seeing that his boss seemed dissatisfied, he changed his words again, "Well, how about 30% off? That's our best offer!"
Any further reduction would drastically decrease the brand's value!
Everyone around was stunned. Were they negotiating the price of a top luxury brand? Did Abigail just get a discount?
Kevin and Lauryn didn't expect their daughter to be a good bargainer. How considerate!
"280 million in total!" Zack decided. "I'll refund the price difference to Mr. Baldwin's account in a while."
Kevin thought that Abigail was feeling sorry for him for paying the money, so he hurriedly said, "No, no, no need for the refund, Abby. I am well-off enough to afford it! You don't have to worry about it."
"It's not about that," Abigail said bluntly. "Even if you have the money, you can't spend it recklessly. How about we return half of the clothes?"
In this way, she could sell it to other people and earn other people's money.
"No way!" Kevin hurriedly said, "Zack, why don't you refund the money to my daughter's account? She earned the discount by herself, so she deserves it! Abby, give him your bank account. Consider it as pocket money from me and Lauryn."
Pocket money? 120 million...
Zack was stunned.
Those around them were envious.
Courtney didn't expect her parents to be so generous, giving Abigail so much money without even blinking...
In the past, they never treated her like this!
Seeing her staggering a step back, Scarlet hastily stepped forward to support her, and reminded her in a low voice, "Miss, don't lose your composure."
Although the truth was harsh, things hadn't reached the worst point yet...
Courtney saw that her parents treated Abigail seriously and carefully with a kind of intimacy and tenderness that she had never seen before.
They even ignored Courtney!
Abigail always exuded a cold and aloof aura. Although she restrained herself in front of Kevin and Lauryn, her wild and untamed nature exuded from within.
She was a wolf not meant to be tamed.
At first glance, Abigail didn't seem like a good girl to Courtney.
How could there be a wolf in a flock of sheep? This place was not suitable for her!
Suddenly, Courtney felt that she was incompatible with everything here!
"Dad, Mom, she is..." Courtney tried her best to calm herself down and asked.
It was only then that Kevin and Lauryn noticed the presence of their adopted daughter.
Lauryn ordered first, "Take these things to Miss Baldwin's cloakroom now..."
The title "Miss Baldwin" made Courtney feel uneasy again.
She used to be the only daughter in the Baldwin family.
Why did an extra person suddenly appear out of nowhere and take her place?
