Alaric’s words shocked Mariah that she had thought he was joking, but when she saw the longing in his eyes, she couldn’t believe it. What could have happened, who could have turned them into ice sculptures? She wanted to voice her questions but Alaric started walking away and she followed him. He walked towards what looked like a frozen palace and there was a frozen dragon in front of it. He paused in front of the dragon and Mariah did the same too. She watched him, not wanting to interfere in his moment but also filled with questions. Alaric reached up and caressed the spread wing of the dragon softly. He closed his eyes and whispered, “Father, I have returned.”
