Chapter 26 Twenty Six

‘It’s all in your mind, Lauren,’ I muttered internally, intertwining my fingers and shaking off the unease settling in my heart. The elevator ride felt like it was dragging on forever, and I couldn’t help but glance at Amber, crouched over the elevator rail, muttering something to herself. I quickly looked away, focusing on anything else to distract myself. “Um, so tell me about yourself, Amber,” I said, striking up a conversation to lessen the awkwardness. It seemed like the only way to make the ride bearable.
