Chapter 12 Disturbance in the Hospital
Hearing her husband Daniel's words, Diana became more furious. She pointed at Daniel's head and shouted, "It's all because you are incompetent. If it weren't for your dead father who forced Rosemary to marry Charles, our Rosemary would have married a rich and handsome man long ago."
An assistant doctor in front of the operating room shouted at Diana, "keep your voice down!"
Diana gave up. She glared at her husband, and then at her son-in-law, Charles. The more she looked at them, the angrier she became.
Sophia said, "What's wrong with this hospital? I'll argue with them!"
This girl has a very straightforward personality. If she disagrees, she will quarrel with others.
Diana was worried that her little daughter would suffer. She glared at Charles and said, "What are you waiting for? Go and get Sophia back."
"But Rosemary is about to come out of the operating room!"
"It's so unlucky for Rosemary to marry a loser like you. Even Sophia knows that she has to buy a single ward for her sister, but you, a loser, are indifferent here."
Being scolded by Diana, Charles was speechless and left quickly.
On the way to find Sophia, Charles called Bob Miller and asked him if he knew anyone in the NYU Langone Medical Center.
"Young Master, don't you know that we run the hospital? When I asked you to sign the agreement, you didn't take a good look at it."
Hearing this, Charles frowned slightly. The documents were as thick as a pamphlet. He had no time to read it. He just signed his name on the papers.
"Mr. Miller, Rosemary is sick. The head nurse here asked us if we needed a single ward. When we went through the formalities, she said that she received a call from her director, who said that the single ward was booked out. Call the head of the hospital immediately and help me to confirm it."
"Okay, I'll call you later." After saying that, Bob Miller hung up the phone.
After Charles found his sister-in-law Sophia, he saw that she was quarreling with several nurses in the nursing station. Among them, there was a middle-aged man wearing glasses and white gown. He was obviously a leader.
Sophia yelled, "How does your hospital do things? You took the initiative to ask us if we need a single ward. We went through the formalities, but she said that the ward was booked."
"Young lady, the ward was already booked. But the people in the nursing station don't know."
"Who are you? Can you represent the hospital?"
"I'm Andrew Johnson, from the Department of Gastroenterology." Andrew said seriously, "if you keep doing this, I'll call the police!"
"Oh! Are you kidding?" Pointing at Andrew, Sophia asked, "Are you the director mentioned by the head nurse?"
"Yes, you can call me doctor Andrew."
"Oh, so you are the director. I think you gave the ward to others because you received benefits from them, right?"
Andrew's mind was read by Sophia. His face changed colour and he defended, "You are talking nonsense. Aren’t you afraid that I will sue you for slander?"
"Do you think I will be afraid of you?" Sophia glared at him, not to be outdone.
Charles stepped forward and held Sophia's hand. "Sophia, forget it. Let's go back."
Sophia was so angry that she shook off Charles's arm and said angrily, "Charles, are you still a man? Are you afraid of him just because he is a director?"
"I'm not afraid. He will apologize to us later. Don't worry about the single ward. No one can take it away from us."
Confused, Sophia looked at Charles and asked, "Charles, are you telling the truth?"
"Let's go back first and wait for your sister to come out. You'll know it in a while!"
Sophia hesitated for a while. Biting her red lips, she seemed to have made up her mind and said, "Okay, I believe you this time!"
After Charles left with Sophia, the nursing station was in an uproar.
Who is he? He seemed to be powerful. He even asked Andrew to apologize to him. Didn't he know that Andrew was a proud student brought out by the dean in person? Even if he finds the dean, it won't work.
Seeing Charles and Sophia come back, Diana could tell from her expression that she was in trouble.
"Sophia, be realistic. So, when you find a boyfriend in the future, you must find a capable one. Don't look for a loser like your brother-in-low."
"Mom, Charles said he had a way to get my sister a single ward. Besides, the head nurse and the director of the Department would apologize to us."
"Sophia, do you believe that? Do you think Charles is the boss of this hospital? I heard that this hospital is the best hospital in our city with the best medical conditions. The boss's background is very mysterious. No one else knows the real identity of the boss of this hospital."
Sophia didn't have much confidence in Charles, and now she was even more disappointed. With a hint of resentment in her eyes, she said to Charles, "Charles, you really disappointed me!"
At this time, the sound of hurried footsteps came.
Charles, Sophia and Diana looked at the direction where the footsteps came from. It was the head nurse and Andrew, the director who had a fight with Sophia.
Sophia frowned and asked, "is it..."
Andrew came to Charles and asked respectfully, "are you Mr. Garcia?"
"That's right!" Charles nodded.
"Mr. Garcia. Sorry for my bad attitude. The single ward you booked before is still yours. I have cancelled the patient’s appointment who hasn't come to see a doctor yet."
The head nurse who had come earlier said apologetically, "I'm really sorry. It's our negligence that caused you inconvenience. We have changed your single ward to a senior VIP ward for free. I hope you won't hold us accountable."
Diana, Daniel and Sophia were all stunned. They didn't know what had happened, but their eyes were focused on Charles.
However, Charles scolded Andrew and the head nurse seriously, “A hospital is a place that pays attention to medical ethics, and NYU Langone Medical Center must pay more attention to service. I am fortunate to be treated well. If it were someone else, wouldn't they be bullied by you?”
"Yes, yes, it's our fault!" Andrew nodded repeatedly.
"For the sake of your sincere repentance, forget it this time! Go and apologize to my sister-in-law and mother-in-law!"
Andrew didn't dare to say "no". He and the head nurse together apologized to Diana and Sophia respectfully.
After Andrew left, Sophia asked the head nurse to stay.
Sophia pulled the head nurse closer to her, pointed at Charles and asked, "Who is he to you? Why do you seem to be afraid of him?"
